As far as I'm concered rob story can go fuck himself up the ass with his over inflated ego. He could have at least had the courtesy of BECOMING a maggot before writing that article. It's not like we don't have plenty of writers among us who could have penned a similar story long ago...

I think that's a great write-up. Mr. Story, if you're reading this, congrats. You did a good job with a tough assignment. Nice writing.

He definitely captured the spirit of this place. I also think that the article won't be too damaging, as I'm sure the vast majority of Skier Mag's target demographic will be put off by the profanity and sophomoric attitudes found here.

The only thing I'd take issue with is Story's repeated use of the word hatred... I can't personally speak for the collective, but it seems to me that we share a general disdain for the people on epic and the clueless gapers that end up here, but hatred goes a bit far. People say a lot of things on the internet that they wouldn't in real life. Anonymity breeds bravery.

I don't know what to say. he made us sound like a bunch of pre-teen hells angels on wide skis. I think the article was negative enough not to open the floodgates (or so I hope) in the main forum. I do, however, feel that gearswap might be in serious trouble. I hope not, but he made our swap system seem like utopia ripe for the picking by those more "savvy" than us. I look at this mess (TGR) as a community with a gear swap for its users. I sincerely hope those folk don't think of it as a trading ground for the one post masses, since, apparently, we are "paypal not necessary". Nice, Story. Would your report have been less irksome if we had stroked your harble since you are a big writer? It is not like you don't sit in front of a "glow box" day in and day out. Voss would have killed it on an article like this. that is all.

I really don't think things are going to change much around here. Google puts more JONGs here than anything (I'm one of 'em). Try searching any random ski topic on there and chances are you will get at least two or three results from here on the first page. Life will go on as it always has.
