As I posted in the Abasin bag of dicks thread (now Alterra dicks) get ready to be forced to buy a shitty Ikon Pass even if you only want to ski Abasin (I have zero interest in skiing Copper or Wanker Park).
One of the last great CO resorts goes down. The only thing that Alterra and Vail know how to do well is destroy a ski resort and give it to passholders without lube.

I bought an ikon and an abasin this season so won’t have to do that again at least I guess. Though I was not planning to do that again next season, not making great use of the ikon. Although I am headed to Jackson tomorrow and Taos sometime in march, so for that it’s worth it I guess.

I’d just give up skiing at that point.

Well I think everyone has said all there is to say about the basin until we learn more details.
Breck opened peak 7 for the first time this season and it was quite stellar, granted that's only because I know exactly where to go to avoid the rocks and avy debris. Still clocked on big rock on a runout and did a bit of a tomahawk. They had 3 patrollers standing at the whale's tail gate making sure rando people didn't go in there which was nice.

The boat got wicked crowded post ikon. In addition to the tourists, weekends got overrun with front range daytrippers. No where near as bad as the I70 resorts, but it was a big change to the valley, to be quickly followed by the covid WFH boom. Also the daytrippers now show up in big numbers during the mud season and summer months.

I am the master of the obvious!
It felt kinda like country club today, but not in the good way. I mean like EVERYONE was so old, well me too, but that's not the point.
Sun exposed aspects were refrozen, yucky. North was very fine. I should be skiing more bumps, feet are slow.Live each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influences of each.

just came over wolf creek pass. Lots of vans in the overflow lot. They will be lucky to get out of the lot or off the groomers tomorrow

Just came over as well, looked like there was already 8” in the lot. Hoping to head up to WC tomorrow.
Hopefully they can open and get some of the terrain open, but I don’t really know much about WC terrain openings on big storm days if anyone has any advice.
Ie. I know the terrain fairly well, but I don’t really know what opens and what doesn’t on big days

Wolf creek 2 inches of water 16 inches of snow
red mountain 1.2 inches of water 12 inches of snow.
Looks like we got Californias moisture and snow.
Not much open yet probably pretty reactive snowpack.
Buddy said is good skiing guess I will go check it outoff your knees Louie

Skied Wolfy on Monday. It was busy. Place got hammered over the weekend. Had a great day lapping some steeps that the wind kept refilling.

I’m watching the fucking weather channel. Brings me back to the 90s when one TV in the bar would have the weather channel on. Seems like all the good intel went paywall. I know that’s not true but I’m lazy. Maybe a bit nostalgic, mostly lazy. May this storm bring the goods!!
