Many of them don't think about it at all.

That amazes me. How can people be so cavalier and roll the dice like that everyone they go out?

Even though awareness of avalanches has become much more widespread, there's still a ton of people that don't know what they don't know.

Nursing some painful parts this year so passed on voly’n. I would be fairly disappointed to bust my ass for no racing. The racers have to be really bummed as much as they like this race.

Not to bust up your hypotheticals, but being as how they have been reported as remote triggers, you can't assume that anyone was skiing or planning on skiing the terrain in question https://avalanche.state.co.us/observ...0-5cb91807c19c

Are minds are always blown by those that make different decisions that we would. The bad news is we are never off the hook. We gotta use our skills and knowledge to make objectively better choices. We love to say, holy fuck there is no way that would be me and my homies. But in a different place and time, it could be any of us.

I haven't skied the pass since they did all the thinning in/near PT..did they remove/burn most of what they cut down, or is it mostly on the ground and takes a lot of snow to cover?

All removed. They went in with fancy cut-to-length machines and basically removed as they harvested, from my understanding. It still skis pretty well, but what I hear from folks in town that've been here longer than me is that it holds less snow than it used to... it gets more wind affected now. Which makes sense.

Not that the terrain is all that good but everyone’s favorite Pano lift at Winter Park is rumored to be broken and won’t be fixed until late Feb. Lift lines are going to be fucking awful.

Good thing I don't read Reddit
