One from this morning. Story of the snow for us right now is wind, wind and more wind. Variable conditions from 12-18" soft snow, wind slabs and bare ground. Hopefully we'll squeeze a couple more inches out today. It wasn't dumping but snowing nicely out there. We are hurting for coverage though.

This one shows coverage lower, some spots blown to bare ground.

Yeah that's at Hidden Valley this morning. Got a quick solo lap in before work. Hadn't been out all week and was really hoping for a little better coverage after snows this week. Things above treeline have got to be pretty wind affected after the sustained 30 mph winds and 50+mph gusts for really the last 3 days straight. Going to scope out some spots in the terrain park on sunday before the game.

INBOUNDS, I stand by my statement. East Vail is not inbounds.

Inbounds was so good yesterday all the way to last chair, that there was no point in going to EV.

And yet there were quite a few dude's booting up the poma line.

And to answer Kevo: I hope not - but if history is the best indicator of the future action... then it's going to be a rough one.

It really was that good yesterday, how was it skiing today, I am sure still great?

To often we get good light pow in Vail/summit but it is on hardpack. You break through and feel that...

Early week was nice cream cheese to cover up the rain days before and thaw from January, even Tuesday/Wednesday skiied great because of that nice denser to lighter cake layering.

Add yesterdays gift from the heavens and it really was that good. One of best inbounds days ever for me in my whole life of skiing co. And when the skies opened up late day...Not just last 2 year's but all-time, for me.

Take into account the extreme butthurtedness of last 2 seasons...

Honestly, I'd rather have untracked 20-25" at the resort all day versus 3-4' in EV. Way more vert and Vail has plenty of cliffs to keep ya busy - maybe not as big, but still. Don't have to manage avy terrain or deal with the exits and busses either. ABasin, Beaver Creek or Breck would be more fun than either though if all terrain was open.

RE-tardedly deep today. Most of the footage was unusable to constant snow being caked on it. This definitely wasn't the deepest zone of the day.

Glad to see how nice and filled in that zone looks. Good shit. Any signs of instability?

No, things seemed surprisingly stable. It seems the storm came in perfectly right side up - very progressive density and pretty wet at the lowest layers and good bonding. I didn't even get sluffing anywhere. I don't quite trust it yet, but I did take every opportunity to trigger on the steep gully walls with no luck, including the usual suspects that slide often. Things will change with the warmth, we'll see what happens.

Uh yeah. I have never seen so many cars parked on the Frontage Road. It was parked all the way to where the road goes under I-70 in East Vail. Surprisingly, no lines at chair 5 and most of the front side. Apparently, every John Denver just had to make their way to Blue Sky. Heard it was an hour long lift line back there.

What a shit show. I hope all those people end up hating Vail and never come back!
