I think my guess of 4-8 is too low. It absolutely POUNDED snow at my house for about 2 hours. FYI...eastbound 70 and highway 6 was a junk show this morning...apparantly Dowd was a disaster. Snowing in Eagle now but nothing on the roads. I'd guess PowTrees is right...6-8" on the valley floor up valley. Man did we need this storm. CAW CAW!!!!

I never understood what the big deal is about Dowd Junction.
People have obviously never driven LCC

In LCC during a storm, you're lucky if you can go 10 mph.
-
03-19-2010, 11:17 AM #3911
Dowd=major interstate with thousands of cars going 70 mph many of which never drive in snow
LCC=skiers driving to ski used to snow with checkpoints...any idiot can drive on I70
seems pretty easy to understand
not being a dick, but looking at hwy 6 out the window right now and definitley wishing it was LCC

why can't CDOT understand that when it is snowing, usage of their website spikes? You know, like at a time when people really need to know road conditions? It seems like every freaking storm their site can't handle the traffic.

So is EC looking better now than Summit for tomorrow?

^^^ I'm glad you mentioned that... their website has been shit all morning. No surprise.

Just looked at the Vail cams (on its website); didn't really look like it was snowing at all, just cloudy, but maybe that's just a camera resolution issue.
It is full-on puking outside my window in downtown Boulder. Can barely see the building next door.Outlive the bastards - Ed Abbey

Only 1" or so on the ground in Breck and currently not snowing, with maybe a few inches up on the hill.
Front page of the Summit Daily today read, "Storm may drop a foot or 2 in Summit".

I was on the first cascade chair today & got some decent skiing. 6" of dense, abrasive, "sandy" snow which covered the crusties up nice. 10" in drifted spots, even got some snow to hit me in the face.
[Gaper Quote] Saw multiple of people faceplant unloading the chairlifts because of ice on their bases + the grabby snow. [/Gaper Quote]
It stopped snowing at about 10:30 but another 2" had fallen on my walkway since I shoveled at 8. Looks like some showers are redeveloping now.
The winds were howling (out of the SE) so the back & blue square basin were closed... Look Ma was the best run of the day. The back will probably be ugly when it opens with that SE wind blowing up the bowls, unless of course we get that additional 6-10" @ 11,000' that NOAA is projecting.

Couple of different friends had to turn around at Genessee due to jackknifed semis, guess I'm happy I went back to bed after seeing 1 inch reported no matter what happened snow-wise after that.
