Fingers crossed for a Flail day tomorrow.

Hmmmm, its currently BLUEBIRD with zero clouds in Vail. I will believe 6-10" when its flying off of my skis and into my face. The weather has just about never been right this year anyway. 1-2" has been like 14" and 6-10" has been 2".

like Mike said, BLUEBIRD right now. I'm not real keen on the winds but we'll see I guess. I'm gonna say 3-6 tonight.

Yeah thanks for the observations guys they really help us people stuck on the plains.
...
you know normally I'm super pessimistic, especially when it comes to snow and conditions and I've been trying to work on that lately. fyi, all this pessimism about tonight is really shooting my optimism downLast edited by fish; 02-12-2009 at 12:30 PM.

Bluebird in Leadville as well. But it's still early!!!
This year has been quite unpredictible. Not the obvious pacific cold-fronts that you watch come in for days. The deepest day I had all year was after a night with 0-2" predicted. Instead, 2+ feet fell overnight!Skiing, whether you're in Wisconsin or the Alps, is a dumbass hick country sport that takes place in the middle of winter on a mountain at the end of a dirt road.

Looks like the bulk of the storm will hit the mountains between 5pm and 5am. Since I'm so busy at work, here's the latest forecast:

Thanks for the geography lesson, NPG

Pattern looks good through the weekend. I'm skiing Vail for the first time in five years on Sunday.

Been snowing on and off all night. Currently not snowing again. Maybe 2-2.5" here in West Vail.

Was just out on the road. Hasn't been snowing for a couple hours now and I could see the clouds thinning and some stars. There MIGHT be 4-5" up high. Considering its solid ice underneath I would say tomorrow isn't worth getting up early for.

2-3" for the last few days plus 7" today- better than what we've had for the last two weeks.

7 was a surprise at the Beav. Man do we need a HUGE dump. Should be a good day.....better than sunny and railing groomers.

I'd say it's more like 3 to 4 inches at 7,800' in Eagle Vail. They did deploy plow trucks early to my parking lot, so it did snow a decent amount. Montana, I'm thinking early morning runs at Beav
will report back, should be enough coverage to make it fun today (not great or epic).
I shouldn't type this, but I did 2 runs at Beav yesterday and the trees weren't good, but neither were they bare refrozen ice. There's a very strange mixture of about 3 inches of heavy mixed snow. It won't be "bottomless" in the trees today, but I'm hoping it will be better than luge quality...Last edited by PowTrees; 02-13-2009 at 07:18 AM.

Call me spoiled, but its gonna be dust on crust with zero vis today. Not worth skiing on 4 hours of sleep for me.
