Whoa, check out who I saw at the shop today

This guy, while not co-founding Def Jam Records, producing Beastie Boys or Red Hot Chili Peppers CDs or being co-chairman of Columbia Records, strangely seems to have some use for a bicycle. Or for being in a bike shop, at least...

Alright, maybe I'm the only one here who thinks Rick Rubin at a bike shop counts as somewhat of a celebrity sighting and an anomaly.

If I could be re-born as Rick Rubin, Steve Peat, Lance Armstrong, or Darren Berrecloth....I'd be Rick. Cool to hear he's possibly a biker.

He was probalby just checking out what the messengers were wearing this week....or hitting on young Cubans, promising them whippets in exchange for mad PCH drafts in his RR.
    Freek.

Hah -- I had to double-check on Wikipedia to make sure the large bearded man filling out an order form "to RICK RUBIN" in huge letters was actually him... Was kinda surprised to find out that's what he looks like.

Fine, but I'll still pick him over Lance.

What did he order, a SS-fixie recumbent trike with 29ers?

    29er front, 26" left-rear, 650B right-rear.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

And a Brooks saddle, no doubt.

Nah, just some ~$300-400 part with an acronym/letters/numbers I didn't recognize. That shop has a lot of Santa Monica yuppie road bikers come through, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was a fancy stem or pedals to shave 20g off his recumbent bike.

Don't know about what you listed up top, but I'd shake his hand for standing by Johnny Cash, when everybody thought he was done. I only hope to have enough conviction to stare Death down like JC did on American IV.

I honestly had no idea what Rubin looked like.

That's pretty cool. He's a genius, or seems to be. He's sort of unmistakeable, if you've seen his pic before - there was big article in the NYTimes magazine earlier this year, and he was in the Shut Up and Sing documentary.

Like to hear that he bikes!
