I've been looking for Supreme Nyborn's music for awhile, specifically the song Versatility. Someone here must have it in some form or can find it. From the late 80's/early 90's?

I remember Mr Magic spinning this on the WBLS Rap Attack in like 85/85. But he gives a shout out to Chuck Chill-Out, so maybe it was on DJ Red Alert on WRKS. Who can remember anymore?

Noice! Now we need that Hawaiian Sophie joint by Jaz. Also there was one Original Flavor (Jay-Z, Damon Dash) joint that was tight.
Next on the list of needed joints... 7A3 Coolin in Cali!

I know I mentioned this before back on like Page 1 or 2, but I felt it necessary to re-set the record straight, at least from a semantical and historical standpoint.

Old School refers to the period of rap from approx 1979 -1984.

Since knowing history is essential when it comes to chronicling pop culture movements, I thought I'd throw out something a li'l different.

To this end I am highly recommending some reading material to all y'all (it's a quick read and a good primer on the history of rap music in America). Basically, if you like rap, then you owe it to yourself to read this book:

    Rap Attack by David Toop
    [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Rap-Attack-3-David-Toop/dp/1852426276/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1246053739&sr=1-4"]Amazon.com: Rap Attack 3: David Toop: Books[/ame]

If you don't know, now you do...

    PS
Don't get me wrong, I love me some New School era rap. That's the stuff I grew up on. But the New School wouldn't have existed without the Old School.

hahahaha...got all that stuff on vinyl boyeeee!

if you're gonna go into that "obscure" shit, then you have to toss out:

Masters of Ceremony (Puba's group before Brand Nubian)

Original Concept (group with Dr. Dre from MTV's Yo! before there was a Yo!)

MC EZ (aka Craig Mack before he put the flavor in your ears)

Prince Rakeem (aka The RZA before Wu-Tang)

and any of the long forgotten groups that PE shout out on the liner notes of their first two albums.

contradicting my earlier post about OS vs NS, i am well aware that this ain't Old School, but this is one of my favorite forgotten New School joints.

this is The RZA back before the Wu-Tang Clan days. This is quintessential New School dopeness.

holler if you need some other nuggets from the vintage New School era (1987-1992) cuz I got crates and crates of serious vinyl plates.

4 pages of mostly New School adoration ('cept for Lonnie who brought the O.S. heat something serious there for a minute) and NOBODY drops any EPMD? and y'all consider yourself rap fanatics?

What, did rap take a vacation in '85 & '86?

i used to party with N2Deep in their downtown Vallejo studio while they were making this album.

you should hear some of the studio outtakes (different samples).

wish i had pix of the time E-40 and The Click mustached me with a Sharpie after i'd slugged an entire 40 and was taking "a rest" on the studio couch.
