    TR: weekend in tahoe 11/01/2007 . . .

this thread really should be in Ski & Snowboard this time of year, but since it refuses to snow a buddy noah and i strapped the bike rack where the ski rack belongs and headed up to the mountains.

    day 1:
popped out of bed at 5:30 am much easier than i do at 8:30am when my daily agenda involves going to work. headed east and arrived in meyers around 10.

the uphill slog from oneidas had us wishing for dirt

we found the dirt, but it kept going up

at least there were nice things to look at. ran into ja_surf about here. nice meeting you man!

armstrong pass. we met a guy with a black jamis that i thought might be powdork. imagine his confusion when the second person in 15 minutes asked him for change for a nickel (apparently he had just passed ja_surf)

    time for lunch. mmmmmm

wait. the climbing doesn't end at the "pass"?

    up, up, up

wtf is that in the background? there's snow in the sierra in november?!

it may look like it's only 4", but it's really more like 6. not everybody is kidwoo

we met up with powpig around here. nice to meet you man, good riding!
we enjoyed a nice flowy downhill on the TRT and then found toads in primo shape. not too many downhill shots, between "i don't wanna die" and "wow, this is awesome" didn't have think to pull out the camera. got a few though.

    powpig

noah near the bottom of the "crux" of toads

exhausted after a long climb and a a great downhill, powpig, noah and I headed to burger lounge for delicious orgasmo burgers and beer. great end to a great day!

    day 2:
we camped at big meadow and woke up to another beautiful (although chilly, 30deg at 9:30 ) morning. drove up to truckee to explore the sawtooth ridge area. didn't take a ton of pictures today, but got a couple of cool ones.

    pretty vista

    it's a bridge!

i made noah ride the bridge a bunch of times so i could play with motion blur and get a shot i liked. thought this one turned out cool

techy climbing on the aptly-named powerline trail

great weekend in the mountains. couldn't believe how warm and dry it was, but we made the most of it. cool meeting ja_surt and riding with powpig! hope to see you guys again.

Nice TR nbm. I was feeling kinda bad when I saw S upper truckee was already gated but looks like you were able to make due. Looks like up near corral might be the place to camp late/early season. Sorry I was late to the party, got up there Sunday instead.
A good friend would come bail you out of jail. A great friend would be sitting next to you saying..."but damn that was FUN"

Funny thing about that guy on the Black Jamis we were hanging out at the top of corral and kept seeing people we knew so were just bullshitting for a while there. Anyway this guy comes driving down the road, stops and asks for change, so I think it's Powdork and go on talking with the dude for about 5 minutes when he asks what the whole change thing is about, turns out it was the Black Jamis guy heading back down. My buddy bummed some water from him, so he opened the back of his truck and was checking out his new BC rig he just bought the day before with shiny new Dukes mounted on them. Then I noticed the TGR sticker inside his truck, so I let him in on the change deal, guess he had friend somehow associated with TGR but had never gone to the website.
If those were new Gotamas w/Dukes mounted on them, then I gotta find this guy and off him, as he is obviously impersonating me. Didn't catch an address, did you?
