lotus 138 has only 70 cm of effective edge, too much rockers and not this magique association of mellow reverse camber/35m sidecut who makes the Renegade so good with the stiff flex....

the advantage of a convexe base: a float more constant with angle's changes >> sweet feeling , less...

for ski float, it's rather "plate effect" than displacement.

as said, cleats are only there to help the lucky man and his knees to join the next powder or sweet snow field.
I'm not shure we can talkl about speed or precise control with this concept, it's not...
