@benf, i was talking specifically about 10fps at 11mp, that cant last until the card is out, thats too much data transfer. As far as timelapse mode, it should/will go until the card is done.

they went from knowing shit about cameras on the first iphone, including very fundamental stuff (remember the color shading?), to hiring many of the big names in the industry over the last few years;...

card memory is really slow relative to imager speed. many (if not all) high speed cameras use a DRAM type memory (ddr, etc.) which is quite a bit faster to buffer data coming out of the camera...
