The Shimano XT 2x10 crankset actually puts the chainline slightly further outboard than I would like. (I spend lots of time in the small gears spinning up long climbs. Much more time than descending...

Definitely keep your granny/middle/bash setup for 2x10 with the clutch derailleur. It's a really good setup. The bash keeps the chain from dropping outside and the clutch handles most everything else.

For those conditions I would really consider the BBG. I loved those during the summer dust bowl conditions and am back to minion/high roller for the tacky/damp/wet/mud seasons.

Do you guys prefer the carbon for low weight and pop? My DPS (hybrids) are the most lively skis I have had and I feel like something more damp would be easier on rough snow.

Now this is a quality trip report.

How long are the carbon justice?

These look awesome. I always have the hot and sweaty hand + glove soaked wet from slush problem whenever I have to remove skins.

Good suggestions in here. It's pretty far south, by Oakridge in OR has the highest concentration of rides with huge climbs and flowy, fun, non-intimidating singletrack descents that I have seen.

What condition are the edges in? How does the tour layup ski? I assume a little softer and easier than the regular one. Do you know the weight of the skis?

Anybody know of a way to scope out and/or try this ski in a 187 in or around Seattle? It intrigues me.

K2 Hardside. The little bit of rocker really helps it from getting caught up on heavy slush and it is just stiff and heavy enough while still being really fun to ski.

I'm skiing the 184cm hybrid DPS 112RP. It's a great ski, but I might consider something a bit more stout for resort crud purposes. The catch is that it still needs to surf like a mofo in deep snow...
