Well, I went thru there last month and rode, I didn't think it was sketchy, just a rural blue collar area in the vain of Butte,Mt. , etc.
People at the TH and on the trail were friendly.

I had a piston that was slowly leaking on a long descent and the rotor got all glazed and f'd up. I took an orbital sander with 80 grit to the rotors. They worked ok for a ride or two but 'glazed'...
Levitate and Vertigo are G2G. There are a few small dried rutted spots nut they were pretty obvious.

Found a used Zeb down the street from me for $200 so I grabbed it for now.
Does anyone have a 27.5 boost rear wheel they want to get rid of/trade for a 29" wheel/tires/etc.?
If you make it down to the South end of the valley let me know....
When I rode up Mount Evans I dug thru the garbage can at the summit and pulled out enough newspapers to keep me warm on the down.
Well, I picked up a Revel Rail 27 frame yesterday for $350. Guess I need to build it up.
Was kind of thinking a mullet build. I'm old and set in my XC ways, so it's going to be more of a screw...
I've been running GC front/Slaughter in the rear this season and have been happy with it so far.
If you need a Spec tire guide: https://www.jensonusa.com/blog/specialized-tire-guide
Hmmmm, I might be interested.
You can park/camp on the Mineral road.
A concentric BB is an insert that goes in an oversized BB shell that has an insert that is drilled off center that the BB is mounted in and lets you tension the chain by rotating the insert around in...
I think the CF9 had the MSRP of $6300 -- A new 2024 Lux Trail CF8 is only $4800.
I've been following the used bike market pretty closely in Utah and its pretty saturated right now. Anything north...
I was just down in Cedar City and Hurricane last weekend. Pretty much good as it gets right now (The higher stuff in Cedar will still have some snow) .... I would post some pics but...
You could...
On the old 3x that granny gear loved to suck the chain in when it got muddy or dirty. But the really problem was there was so little clearance between the ring and the frame when it did get sucked in...
Front derailleurs on mountain bikes sucked ass. The wrong orbit of the planets would cause chain suck. Not planning your shifting the day before the ride would result in dropped chains.
Yeah, did a similar recently on a much cheaper front DT wheel. I didn't realize how fragile that lock ring mount....
This thread doesn't work very well without pictures.
But went down South to get out of the rain/snow.
Didn't see another rider on the trails all weekend.
Hit Little Creek in Hurricane Friday....
I've been watching the market out here, but it seems like everything is a medium or XL that is reasonably priced. Lots of used bikes priced about the same as what new ones are going for. Might have...
With component prices at an all time low I'm just considering putting back some parts in anticipation of building up a 'downcountry' type bike.
Spur, Tallboy, Ripley, etc. I'm keeping my eye out...
If your ready to toss that rear triangle, have you tired hitting it with some heat? If that was an auto, I would have had the blow torch on it right away.... not that it would recommend that on CF,...

Oh, and the Cannondale Scalpel SE, they have them marked down right now.
And the Revel Ranger
I've been looking around for a new 'down country' bike too, I like my XC bike, but the steep headtube gets annoying because when I can't let my guard down...
I've been looking at the Cervelo ZFS-5...
Is he doing NICA? I've ridden most of the courses in Utah which I imagine is similar to the front range and a fast rolling tire with good puncture resistance is what you are after...
Just measured my 2.3 Slaughter @ 2.34 and a 2.25 GC at 2.26
A neighbor gave me an older 24" Schwinn kids bike in good condition (before they went to total crap) with Shimano STX and a Rock Shock on it they were going to throw out.
Pick it up in Sandy. Can't...
It's the Ammonia in (some) tire sealants attacking the aluminum.
Everyone says 'Lake' if you need wide shoes. I've had good luck with Shimano Wide, but most people say they are just normal wide compared to the rest of the world. (but they are cheap and readily...
Has anyone tried Vibra-Tite VC-3 Threadmate on spokes? I've used it in some other applications and
its interesting because it stays flexible when it dries vs. curing hard like loctite.

I've been running the Barzo/Mezcal on my XC bikes, but your trading fast for downhill performance for sure.
In the Maxi line you could look at the Rekon.
My son is running a Minnion SS on the...
I ranted about this a few pages back.... What am I doing , ranting at the clouds if no one is paying attention?
Not a Hayes guy, but are they missing the little O-ring around the bolt?
Yeah, my thought was if it worked well they would license it out to other manufactures.

After a couple of days of Vegas I was ready to get the hell out of there. Headed down to Kingman to check stuff out. Trails were fun and the local at the trail were friendly, but damn, that place is...
Had a bizness trip to Vegas, so I brought the bike along. Left Salt Lake Saturday and hit Jems up really quick that night then went to Gooseberry the next day.

Buying bikes in a snow storm. I need help. I've wanted an Eddy since the 7-11 days. Didn't think it would be a gravel bike, but the universe works in mysterious ways.

As much as I complain about the Ikon Pass and Solitude, yesterday made me remember why I love the place. Rolled up at 9:30, headed towards Summit that they just opened, got in 3 great headwall laps...
Thanks! Think I'm going to ride a few days in Vegas and head to Caliente for a day or two. Less driving and cheaper then heading farther South.
Best day of the season today at Soli. That is all. No bitches to give.

Other then the max tire size it seems like a primo dentist bike..
That Intense gravel bike is interesting, but I have a hard tail mountain bike that is about the same weight, so I really don't know how much use I would get out of it.
