I was at Tuckerman yesterday.
The hike up still has decent coverage, and several people were able to skin more than half of it, with only one or two spots that required removing skis.
Just thought I'd bump this... Matchstick at Brattle Theater this Friday! Anyone else going?
Hmmm... Would a set of Jarts be a welcome addition?
Me too. I'm plus 1 right now, maybe another.

Let's try to spell everything in the title of this year's thread correctly...

I'm in! Coming from Boston, may have seats available. Can't wait!
When will you be there? I'm headed up Sunday-Monday.
Tons of fun! They had me flipping pretty quickly last summer.
If you're on a snowboard, the learning curve to just get down the ramp is not trivial. I still have a few scars from my one fall on...
It's that time of year again.

We have two or three girls that regularly show up, though one of them is mine.

I just thought I'd put an open invite out there... I'm at Metrorock in Everett every Tuesday night from 7:30 or 8 to close, plus usually Friday or Saturday. There are usually about 4 of us, but we'd...

A little climbing stoke:
We ditched working in lab last Friday and went out to Crow Hill in Leominster, MA. The day was absolutely perfect for climbing. I started...
I had the good fortune of spending the 2010-2011 ski season in Jackson Hole and living at the Hostel. Snow drove me elsewhere for the majority of this past season, but I will be back as often as I...
Yes, I believe that will be an issue at first, but given their eyesight, I don't think it'll take long before they associate the launcher with a fresh meal.
^ that picture is beyond creepy.
I'm going to give away my idea for a youtube vid that is almost certain to go viral.
Hawks hunt by sight. Several species are known to hunt smaller birds,...

Killington tomorrow from Boston... Anyone want to split gasoline and make some turns?

And here I thought the future was heart carving on snowlerblades? Damn.
Dexter, don't worry. Steve will be there.

Thanks! It was everything I had hoped it would be and more. The lack of visibility and cold prevented us from doing lots of stuff we had planned (Aiguille du Midi and Valee Blanche, Zermatt,...

My recent trip to Switzerland and France:

Another really cool thing about Switzerland is that every person in their early 20s is in the military. We went to a shooting range in the back side of a strip mall one night. Functioning selector...

I recently made a trip to Switzerland to meet a friend I met while bumming in Jackson last season. Back in October, I found a cheap ticket out of JFK to Switzerland, so I couldn’t refuse.

I'll just leave this here...
Full TR to follow.
There was also a bit of this:
I just spent 2 weeks (jan 25 to feb 8) between Portes du Soleil and Chamonix and have to say it was incredible. Full tr to follow when I get back to fast Internet and power for my laptop.

Little mini-review here:
First, a bit about me: 6'2" 175lbs super-skinny. 15ish days so far this season, 100+ in JH and Squaw last year, maybe 60 or 70 in my life prior to that.

If you plan to go to Killington one weekend and let me know, I'll let you take it for a few runs. It digs trenches very very effectively. It's a lot different than my T6/T7, and I suspect it...

Very pretty! I finally rode my 26/166 Storm yesterday, and it was awesome. They get lots of questions in the lift lines, too, given that they're longer than most people's skis.

That mountain needs 50-60" in some places before it's skiable. I seem to recall your username being similar to a guy who posted some neat vids to yourtube... Was that you? And if so, can I have a...

You'll have a hard time coming back. Where are you staying?
I'm really hoping to have the chance to do another season out there next year.

This absolutely guarantees that we will get dumped on once you leave. I'll personally take credit for your winter here last year. That is all.

No, 30 is right for the front. It keeps my knees happy. I don't think I'm giving up too much by doing that, but it is enough that I can feel a difference in board flex on a heel vs toe edge. I may...

I'll post over there and see what they say.

And I forgot to include the other part of my question... Factory tune seems to be 1deg base bevel, 1deg side for a 90deg edge. I would think that there's a lot more turning performance to be gained...

I have a dilemma.
I have a basically new 2007/2008 Burton T6 162, a former demo 2010/2011 T7 162 with amazingly pristine edges and base, and a daily driver 2008/2009 T6 162 that's torn to shit...

I'll be at Killington Fri-Sun. Here's to hoping for snow...

Sorry about that, haha. It was good to ski with you. We should do that again.
Crowds were pretty ridiculous all weekend. I only got taken out once by an errant snowboarder. The snow softened...
Is it posted in the app store yet? It's not coming up in a search.

I was at Killington today. It wasn't half bad considering the crap weather we've had recently. The afternoon got just a tad scratchy, but I think that's par for the course.
I really wish I could...
Whatever you do, do not blindly follow tracks into the JH backcountry. That's a wonderful way to die, and you'll find people are not at all happy to hear the question, "Where am I and how do I get...

I did this when I moved to Jackson last season. I found a short-term high-deductible policy that ran me something like $40/month from Golden Rule through WyoHealth. I think I would have been out-of...

I went to the ski and snowboard expo on thursday intending to help a friend pick out a new board, meaning not buy anything. Within about 10 seconds of walking in to the eastern boarder booth, I had...

I'm planning on hitting Verbier, Zermatt, and Saas Fee in Switzerland this winter.
Another great film. I really liked Brattle theater... It's great for smaller crowds and drinking.
JayPowHound, great to meet you and your wife. Hopefully I'll see you on snow this season.
