just started snowing here in Leysin. :)
My city legs are returning to tele legs.
Glad to see you boys getting some.
Me too. Be back and skiing with you around the 12th.
Yes, it is snowing in Leysin.
It's a nice place. Not sure it's the biggest bestest place ever over here,
but I certainly enjoyed a couple days there. Secluded for sure.
Of course, touring options may also be had, but I...
Woke up to snow at 1800m this morning.
This guy is tuned in. Well done!
I can report that it is cold up here, and wet.
Will chime in again when the white stuff starts falling from the sky.
Wax 'em up!
On Ripz' photo, obviously, the cloud was thirsty and getting a drink.
Nice pic Marius. My guess is,
if from yesterday, then that would be dust from the Sahara Desert making that yellow color.
It rained here yesterday night, and the cars were covered with silt.
Where's the best?
Not Retallack! Crap
For kids, Morzine and Les Portes du Soleil is a decent place to be.
I recall lots of activities for kids there, clubs, dancing, snow park, etc.
The lodging is located on the hill, giving it an...
So much for NAFTA.
Well, it's my 2nd day of Summer Vacation,
and I am happy to report snow.
Altitude = 1264m.
Altitude of snow = 2000m.
Roger was a really nice guy.
Nice pics of him in Ripz' link above.
Sad time in Leysin these days.
Well, if you are going that way, then La Grave should be one of your stops.
I had written a longer email earlier, and never sent it.
It basically said, La Grave sits in the shadow, but the skiing...
I grew up in CT, but rarely skied there.
I mostly skied in VT (Mt. Snow and Okemo).
Mt. Southington always seemed better than PowderRidge.
And, I think PowderRidge is now closed looking to...
So, did the plane on the conveyor belt runway ever get off the ground?
Does anyone remember me in here?
Wait for it, because I am coming back.
Early March is a good call.
By the end of March, the weather/sun is getting warmer.
February is school holiday month. By March, it's over.
I have never seen school holiday goers...
So, I wake up today, check the web to see if the local spot is open.
With all the weather, there are some 30-50 cm waiting to be torn up.
Green lights aplenty, I text a local ride over, and get...
Leysin Altitude 1264m
18 March 2012
It's been snowing for 2 hours.
Let it snow.
So, where is the airplane on a conveyer belt thread located now?

I don't blame you.
But, let's not deny that this incident is not related to politics and specifically gun control as well as support for returning vets.
It's sad all around. Saddest yet is to...
So, what am I missing?
How's the snow?
Murren is running deals this Winter.
Check them out.
Deals include lodging, breakfast, tix, and guides.
Good luck, that's all I know, and I learned that at the Zurich train station.
Wednesday wherever I can get from Zurich (snow depending).
Weekends Leysin or thereabouts.
Wednesdays and weekends I ski.
While at the Zurich HB, look for the ads for Murren.
Murren was offering package deals for lodging, brekkie, tix, and guide.
The price seemed reasonable, and Murren is a real deal place to ski, ...
Oh, by the way, it snowed the other day, up high.
Mountains look good.
Yo G, congrats on that! 5 already.
You know, it's now yours, for as long as you want it.
Just be sure to file your taxes every year, and also to renew it.
More importantly, being this is...
I lost my sense of humor when they pegged the CHF to the Euro.
My quality of life just got more expensive.
Ok, marginally we can argue anything. So we all agree then, the quality of life...
A 3 1/2 minute video with 3 1/2 seconds of action.
At least it started with the action.
I love that pic above ^^^ this post.
As you seem insistent on arguing, allow me to say,
Are you smoking crack?
Not sure how to really respond to that one.
Quality of Living vs. Cost of Living.
Ok, I will answer your question a bit more seriously.
But, first let's admit, my 2 word reply above was pretty funny, and accurate.
France and Italy are charming, but they are not run nearly as...
Perhaps it's semantics,
so let me note some terminology:
Cost of Living vs. Quality of Life.
Not debating the first one, but the second one is not hype.
Pardon the thread drift.
Not sure how to really respond to that one.
It went from 30+C in Zurich yesterday,
to snow in the VD hills under 2000m last night.
What's it look like down there?
Whoever that is should try wearing skis when skiing.
Poles alone won't do it, except for head plants.
Zermatt is charming, super charming.
Spas available, and hotels in all ranges.
Lots of choice, in a town dedicated to the mountains.
Horse drawn carriages, electric silent but deadly taxis, no...

Leysin Altitude = 1264m
Snowed to 1800m.
Tour du Romandie arrived in Leysin yesterday.
Snow is a day late.
Do a SnowDance people!
Pardon me if I seem more concerned with the future safety at Retallack (and other operations), instead of lamenting this tragic loss.
Oscar, you admit you don't know what you're talking...

My first thought was Zermatt.
I believe there is a TGV connection running all the way to Brig these days.
Horse drawn carriages, spas, views, great skiing, and plenty of crevasses.
Please don't use the R word during ski season.
Retallack could be doing more to protect its skier/boarder clients.
In high avy conditions, they do not bomb nor otherwise perform avy control.
Then they lead their clients into the trees, which...
Brush cutting eliminates tree wells, and makes for better tree skiing.
Some places do not brush cut, and Retallack is one of them.
