POC vpd 2.0. pedal in them. cool. unreal snug fit. stay in place. put them on and forget about them.
agreed. not sure why anyone would do that shitty climb when you can take a shuttle to top and get in 3 laps in a day.
plenty of other stuff to climb where there are no shuttles.
this.
i am blown away by how well the ripley climbs with 140 pike, both steeps and technical. front end doesn't wander at all. I am coming from a 2012 turner 5spot and the ibis is considerably...
i have a ripley with 140 pike. to me, the bike feels absolutely dialed. climbs great, slack 'enough' on the descent. feels perfectly balanced. felt like it was made for the 140 pike. i do know...
canwilf, when this topic was brought up before, in a different thread, the answer most people on this board gave was "No". the 'control' casing is not enough for 'all mountain', but depends on...
I think the grid casing still comes in both a 2bliss and a UST for some of their tires. there is definitely a weight penalty for the UST over the 2bliss. it is funny for some of their tires the...
thanks, I appreciate the offer. 70 on there now and my shoulders and back are bit 'bunched up', not sure how else to describe. might try some wider bars as well. in fact, since I have those handy,...
thanks. set on 80.
i know, not a very common length. 70 is a bit short, fitwise, on my bike and no way i am going 90.
unfortunately as all these chronic nagging injuries crop up and don't...
Kidwoo, not until the 10th.
anything?
thanks all.
gonna spend all 4 days in oakridge.
rose to chimney is a great ride. just did it this past weekend.
fountain place trail to armstrong to freel saddle to 3,200ft of descending is another great one.
mr toad's from armstrong pass is...
i have never heard of any mountain biking in that particular area. but tahoe isn't that big you are close enough to both south shore and north shore to get some great riding in.
we want a little bit of everything. however, end game is that both of us much prefer non-machine built, long, flowy, old school trails. big vertical is key if possible. beautiful surroundings help....
Will be leaving from Portland on morning of Day 1.
is McKenzie river trail worth a day?
Or 2 days riding in Oakridge and Ashland?
Leave a 1/2 day for BRMBP? have been to BRMBP and am...
I hate this soap opera crap and it is pretty weak hiding behind an alias of an alias AND needing strength in numbers.
creaky's stuff is less offensive to me than some of the people who make...
i have a couple hundred miles on ripley and the bike is absolutely silent so far. in fact, this is the most i have ridden a new bike before it finally needed to go to shop. i am blown away by...
pegleg. Ibis Ripley has only been mentioned once. Great bike for what you are describing and can hold it's own on more technical descents.
god damn it!
I actually thought it was real. they had me. well played.
edited to remove my rant when I thought this was real.
I agree with gravitylover. And add it really doesn't look terribly fun/rewarding.
I know!!! I always fall into this mindset that I can get away without them in the rear and regret it. Plus I am still used to cornering on the BBG and this was drastically different. the...
this is not a review, rather a personal opinion:
logged some vert and some miles on the butcher/ground control on 29er over the weekend.
really enjoyed the butcher. cornered well, rolled...
good to know.
After less than 5 rides, I had several tears on the Nobby Nic's between the center knobs. stans did an admirable job, but they didn't last long.
eager to put some miles on the...
I know. and it STILL doesn't matter. depressing that people think they 'need' a 650b, regardless of how small the differences.
I bought a ripley to replace a bike that was pretty much obsolete...
Add one letter, an "R" and you could ask 2x as much.
so baffling how little interest there is in anything so 'obsolete' as a 26" bike. :(.
going with butcher in front, ground control in rear. both GRID casing.
thanks for all the help!
^^^ that is kind of the review on Ikon's I was hoping for. I am looking for a fast, light tire that just has 'decent' hold in turns. I know the highroller would be better cornering, but so friggin...
So, I just put my first several rides on an Ibis Ripley. great bike.
comes stock with a nobby nic up front, reinforced rubber. tore open first ride. .. stans did seal it though!! dislike the...
had the same thought. also, had on a full face and neck brace and fell on a seemingly innocuous part of the hill which I have ridden many times.
unlike skiing, there is really no blame to...
dude, he replies to every thread re: tires. even though it is obvious to anyone with rudimentary reading comprehension skills that the tires had been sold.
and that is a great price.
and the black ones look much more 'rad'. ;)
just put one of these on my 5 spot. what a great fork. light, stiff, plush all the key words people like to hear when buying a fork.
he is usually so distracted while changing forks, cranksets, etc during his 'pre-ride tinkering sessions', i will probably be able to just swap it out for a nobby nic without him even realizing it.
oh the humanity! not only did i not get the tire, it was bought by someone i ride with and I am gonna have to watch him ride it!! torn as to what will replace the current one that is almost dead.
come on dude! you are gonna shred the hell out of the sidewall on the 2.1 UST! while my old guy riding style will help it last for years!
not sure of the price but I thought the new SRAM X1 was supposed to be the 'cheaper' alternative to the XX1 and XO1.
going to italy with them in the fall. will report back.
It is amazing how many bike companies have a multiple top end bikes in the 8k to 10K range.
I was contemplating a new bike this year, but might just wait and buy something used end of season or in...
^^^^ where did you get that??
And, honestly it is unusual to have contusions of both femur and tibia without other damage.
Curious. You keep saying 'lachman +'. A positive Lachman suggests a torn ACL. A positive test is therefore bad.
skiobsessed talked to one of my favorite ortho's who does A LOT of these.
he said if MCL is not torn and you don't have to remove any of the lateral meniscus, most people do well. (i did not ask...
Then it sounds like you have done all you can. At this point, you should probably stick with your decision and hope for the best. keep in mind this is no guarantee that fixing your depression is...
When a physician says 'if this is my knee, I would have it fixed' it shouldn't require a lot of thought on your part.
surgery sucks. no doubt about it. the risks, however, are very low.
get a...
that is impressive.
although I can't see the xrays, i will say get the bone re-aligned none of this shaving crap. it means you will be out for several months, but the long term results will be...
try this email. Oh, and ask if there CF tubeless wheelsets are being shipped yet. i am curious. ;)

Leroy, don't waste your money on going to an orthopod. they are not gonna operate. it is not gonna help. BTW, I am a musculoskeletal radiologist and I never fail to be impressed by the kinesiology...
rod, if you can find a study showing that EMS = to weightlifting I would love to read it. the one decent study i found showed it did nothing for muscle mass.
leroy, my flexibility is not a...
leroy, i am right there with you. I have ALL the same issues, although I am not post op.
As stated above, strengthening the VMO, is only part of the deal. As I am learning you have to work on a...
Besides data that consists of 'IME' anyone got any good scientific literature that these things do anything but help condition muscles and aid in recovery? I can't find any literature to suggest they...
