Well damn, I clicked expecting to vote for AlpenChronic's ski shot but it's not one of the finalists.

My vote goes to YourMom since it resonates the most with me personally.

My vote goes to the 15-85mm IS lens, unless you're going to be using it for mostly portraits, in which case I'd go with the 17-55mm. For action sports and landscapes, the 15-85mm kills it.

I disagree. For non-hardcore riders such as myself, I actually prefer it over the older RP23 for the simplicity. I rarely use the "Climb" setting, but it's nice to have for long stretches of fire...

You're right, I wasn't even thinking about it covering prime lengths as it relates to portrait work... I was thinking landscape use only. I'll increase my estimated price to $1200.

For a constant f/1.8 lens? I'm guessing $800-1000.

Seems like an odd range for an APS-C lens; it's a more appropriate lens for full frame, I'd think.

Get the Nikon 16-85mm and then the 70-300mm VR lens... perfect two lens combo for your hike.
