So...this make you an exceptional Miley Cyrus fan? :fmicon:

Great George stoke there, rog. Good to see the old boy looking a little better.

Much. Keep an eye on GNFAC if heading OOB. Lots of activity out there.

NWS looks promising throughout the week.
I'm arriving next Tuesday for a week, staying with a crew of non-Ridge skiers that I'll be doing my best to avoid. Was there in '08, but being partnerless...
^^ and TR posted at BDEL has good beta on the area:

And well polished rocks they are.

EC rocks, ice, Jan thaws, flat landings and TGR asshats can toughen anyone's skin.
01-28-2013, 03:49 PM
Woohoo! Maybe slokemo will open Double Diamond with all that blower.
01-28-2013, 09:40 AM
Sweet. Hopefully Bozeman/Missoula does same next week. BTW, still have a couple of beds open in the house at Bridger, if anyone's interested.

Look for me there in the AM on Moships. Gotta epoxy an edge back in on my Prophets - a victim of the good times with TC & the crew yesterday.
01-26-2013, 03:17 PM
What's good for tomorrow? Trolling for some news about a hidden stash worth paying for or a BC adventure partner, otherwise I'll have to put some more dry scratchy miles on my MRG pass.

Better to do it now before they fail a Forest Service or insurance company inspection and have to shut the lift during operation. Compliance was one of the motivating factors behind Mad River Glen...

Nuking in West Hartford, Vt.
Always hurts to read about a tragedy in the places we love to be. Vibes to the family & friends.
As a community, we need to be on the watch for newbs who are heading into something that we...
Challenging snow makes good skiers, i.e. Michaela Shiffrin: Storr's Hill, Lebanon, NH -> Burke Mtn Academy. 'nuff said.
1. Ski. A lot.
2. Scout good skiers. Buy them beer.

Not everyone was critical of conditions. Towanda prefers the warmer temps:
No rain on the southwest of Manny, and while the turns were slow & sloppy, the views weren't too shabby:

Who's up for some VT/NH sloppy touring tomorrow? Early start is recommended, fer sher.

Nice, Bucket. Was there yesterday, telecommuting from the Basebox. Everything was skiing incredibly well: fast, soft & filled in. Was solo, so little woods action, but Paradise (+variations) was...
Was with AK Heli in the ill-fated 2010 (the snow back in Vermont was better than Alaska that year) and the guides really worked hard to find us the goods. Great outfit, amazing vibe, will be back...

Can't see why not. A DD214 is probably more deserving of the benefit than the old DD2 of some dirtbag who may or may not have been "other than honorable". The pass office folks were very helpful and...

Didn't see or recognize any mags out there today, but glad to hear you were getting some of it, too. I was mostly lapping Cascade via Canyon Quad all day, albeit the snog from the guns plus super...

Did that last Sunday, after getting booted from behind the who-the-fsck-put-cones-out!?!?! I'll be there tomorrow AM.
BTW, all you vets out there who served your country, but didn't stick around...
Stoked to see so many EC Mags able to make the trek to Vt and offer up a united brain cell sacrifice to Ullr. Alas, family drove up for my b'day and I couldn't ditch them, not after they dropped a...

The pass system isn't ready for the free express pass yet so my military id got me a $25 day ticket.
A lift wheel truck needed some tightening so it was down for about 30 minutes. To be...

Only retirees & active duty, according to the website. Unless they've worded things incorrectly, we mere "veterans" gotta put up $99 like the rest. I'll flash my old DD2, ust in case.

For all you jongs with a Kmart pass this year, or those about to...

Columbus Day fast grass...or better?
5:30am K-1 base.
Silver Outback & Towanda.

Talk about adding insult to injury - sprained MCL, business trip takes me to "There's a hole in the world like a great black pit" London, and V-tah gets nukeage.
Just ain't fair.
01-06-2012, 01:07 PM
No! Smuggs will suck. An unannounced warning trend is going to make it suck beyond suckage, the crowds will be unbearable, and the beer is always warm so don't waste your money!!!
Anyone who fails...

That poorly diagnosed and treated shit can be with you for life. The ball of my right foot will always be in too many well-calcified pieces after an Army PA took the easy road when treating it 17...

Only 6" more and it was incredible. The mountain must have anticipated today would be a poachfest and given "leniency" instructions to the patrol. The alternative would have been to roll a dozen...
Sorry to say I'll be skiing that night...in Dubai. Rad, sick, gnar pics will be posted, fer sure

I'm in West Hartford and was lucky enough to be on high ground, but our village was pretty much removed from the map. If anyone has time and hands/trucks to volunteer,...
Yeah - that's Nick. He was ripping it up, as was everyone at AK Heli. I'm heading out today but looking forward to coming back at some point.
Puts every other fall you/I have taken in perspective. I don't feel nearly as banged up after watching that.
Can't help with the snow, PowTron, but I can help with a big dumping of stoke.
On days 1-3 I was having all kinds of shinbang/nosedive grunting & sweating issues with the moships in...
My legs are coming into form and so's the head. We're starting to explore some more challenging terrain, and the snow is holding up, although "variable" in a lot of places. Mostly wind effects...
Cold, windy, unstable. Not exactly a winning combination, so the guide & pilot made the very wise call to bring it home after only two runs. Few action shots as the camera wasn't behaving.
02-22-2011, 08:37 AM
Sorry for the cross-post, but I thought some of the EC mags would get a kick outta this at the Ak Heli base of ops:...
Yeah, surprisingly good. A little talc and rime in places and skiing to any PZ down low you might run into some alders and streams, but mostly really good powder. Looks like more in the forecast for...
First day out early season with Alaska Heliskiing. We stayed close by, hitting a few mountains just north of the AHHQ, to get a feel for the snow and shake out any bugs. The snow was fairly stable,...
Flights are still a crapshoot, so it's AMHS to Haines aboard the Aurora.
The 4 hour ferry ride was incredible. Completely breathtaking views from start to finish, although the seas were a little...
Snowing too hard in Juneau & Haines to fly. Another interrupted heli-skier and I share a room at the Alaskan, do some bar hopping and enjoy some local color. He's tempted to drop $749 on a...

MRG was stellar today - the bumps were soft and skiing great on the upper single and the woods were just perfect. Once things warmed up in the afternoon the corn was ripe in places and the powder in...

You should. Mighty righteous crew putting their heart & soul into keeping it the way God intended - sweet and unspoiled. The more you explore, the more terrain & smiles you reap.
BTW, it was...
