...i want to know about talus fracture plz
Waiting to have my ankle surgery and not looking forward to it
Hi everyone,
I'm going in for surgery Dec. 19, I broke my right ankle Aug. 19- lower fibula and dr. said I didn't need surgery and put a cast on. Had the cast on for 7 weeks and was told the fracture is not healing, then went into a boot and more x-rays and bone is still not healing. Went for a second opinion and this dr. said I should of had surgery and that my bone is displaced and needs to be put back in place with plate and some screws. I am so pissed, now I have to not only go into surgery, but have to start the healing all over again with the cast and the fun crutches. So so frustrated and now I at least know what I have to look forward to after reading all the posts, this has been very helpful. I'll keep you guys updated!!!
update post ankle surgery
No real update after my 2-week post op visit. Staples removed and sporting a boot but no weight on the foot for another 3 weeks. So bored and depressed. I did get a knee scooter but haven't used it yet. just crutching from bed/chair to the bathroom is about it!! I am so fearful of injuring myself I just don't go out or get up much. Another appointment on the 26th. I'm 52 - I really want to plan a vacation after I can walk again but obviously can't since I see how different everyone's outcome is!!!
severe ankle and ligament injury

It sucks having injuries like ours because they are one of a kind. About 7 months almost 8, i broke my left ankle bone tore my right ankle bone way out of place and tore my ligaments in foot, ankle and partially up my leg also tore tendons. I had 2 surgeries one to put a metal plate in along my left ankle with 9 screws and a pin going through both my ankle bones(extreme pain would reccommend pain killers), and the second suregery removed the 4 1/2 inch pin. So the metal plate and 9 screws remain in me for life. The recovery process is unbelievably long and requires extreme patience. Hell the psychological factor is as tuff if not tuffer than the injury and physcial pain itself. I am a sports guy who is always playing sports every kind of sports and for the last 8 months i havent even been able to run or jump. At one point again ill be able to play sports and run and jump but thats still a ways away. As for sports in the sand that could be out of the question for life. The sand is now the most dangerous place for people with severe ankle and foot injuries because it is not a flat surface, but a surface that gives way and allows your foot and ankle to land in weird positions that are not suitable for poeple like us. It is an injury that far exceeds my other injuries and ive messed myself up quite a bit. No one can understand or relate to this feeling and injury unless they have gone through it. This is an injury that has changed my life and the severity of pain is temporary but the injury is permenant and life altering. You got to just work through it, you will get stir crazy thats for sure and in those moments just try doing something productive that makes you feel good and or happy, unfortunatley these injuries arent going away and will take a long time to heal, just listen to the doctor and dont be dumb because you dont want to go through it again, patience is the virtue here. Wish the best of luck it aint easy thats for sure.
