N-NE skied very deep above 9500 today. The snow came in right side up and finished off with some utah fluff.

yet another ec'er movin to foofyland.
read the reports carefully. i remember my 1st winter out there pre-intertoobz.
i called the avy report and it said that 3-4 feet was expected with the incoming system. i was very young at the time and thought i'd heard bruce wrong. he must've meant 3-4 inches, no? nope, that storm was a life changer fer sure.
have fun, be safe and come home with tall tales. we'll leave the light on for ya.

like everyone elsehas already said today at alta was the best early season pow i have skied. not measly pow but pow 3-4 feet deep. what a blessing. my camping at albion meadows fora month and a half really thickened my blood and made this early season climb easy. the festive air within the croud was very nice.

^^^ bike leg? that earns some serious points. you and stoy should take a trip together.
I'm not a fan of strapping things to the outside of my pack either, but I usually make an exception for skis.
Wasatch conditions, October 27 = fresh.

What a great day to kick off the season!
Sweet pics Gnarwhale and pointedem!
You make the following seem pale in comparison, yet it's more of the same from Alta. We headed to the slopes below Devil's Castle to avoid the crowds.

Has to be among the best first-days of a ski season. What a morning!!!
Wow you guys, I can't believe we are already in the thick of it. Great photos. Great stoke.
Ooooooooooooooh! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Glad to see everyone packing that snow down so there'll be something to ski when I get there.
round 2 begins. see what is left for a meager boot packer.
u wasatch rats are a bunch of pussies. the skiings been prime all summer and it takes a few fresh inches before you go out and ski the rocks?? (minus of course tele thor and slagg who put in a good amount of summer work)

little superior...yikes!
Loving it guys! Can't wait to get out into the white mountains again. It does bring back memories of Oct 2007, and that doesn't suck.
Snowbird yesterday at about 2:30pm. Did a Gad Valley lap first. The sun was hammering Regulator but it was still creamy and fun. Shot these photos at the bottom of Gad Valley.
2nd lap was Great Scott. North facing, shaded and cold. It was super sick blower. Awesome. No photos but some video to come later. The bottom of p-gulch was a lot less awesome. A LOT of rocks and danger. I took a very slow speed tumble and have a softball sized bruise to show for it. BE CAREFUL OUT THERE. :yourock:

I was lazy and didn't bring a camera. Lots of nice lines out there...and not the standing room only kind of lines! It was a great day 1.
That dude in the green jacket looks like he is hating life.
Short morning before work. Snow is obviously much more settled today, but still good turning. Not much else to report, other than with all the packing going on with the snowcats, should be good nordic skiing soon before Alta opens.
