The reality of the conflict becomes more apparent when it takes one you know. While Mike and I were not close friends, his smile and infectious personality (and love of a cocktail or two) were well known around town. You'll be missed.

Very sorry to hear that.
With the high number of recent deaths I spent the morning looking over the casualty list. I still know a lot of people in the military and I'm worrying about them more and more lately.

sorry to hear. RIP.
My brother is in Baghdad right now. I just got an email from him the other day, for some reason or another some of the patrol platoons have been shorthanded. Even though he works in the garage on trucks, he has had to go out on patrols through Baghdad as a gunner on a Hummer. Not cool, considering my brother is National Guard. Anyway he says its pretty creppy, and somehow he always sees a brighter side to it.

Sorry to hear that Foggy.
Crinkle I hope your brother stays in that garage most of the time and that he comes home soon.

Yeah "for some reason"
Godspeed to all of our soilders and Hell to the man that put them there.

so sorry Foggy. I wish I had the balls that he and so many other servicemen/women have shown.

This is sad news. My thoughts and prayers go out to those that new him and his family. To think the world is safer now without Saddam Hussien:rolleyes:
I have friends in the military and completly support them- but fuck Bush and his agenda. Iraq was a mistake, but even worse- not handled properly after a decision was made to enter the country.
I fear that this will not be the last time we hear news like this in the coming years :(

I was thinking the same thing as I watched the news this morning to learn that six more troops were killed...The scary part is that were are in this, shouldn't be and there seems to be no end in sight. It being an election year helps, and I shudder at the thought of another 4 years of the Bush administration...but a new president won't resolve all the bullshit that has already happened.
I was watching the Daily Show this morning, once CNN got to be too much, and Jon Stewart was giving his commentary on the testimony of Dr. Rice yesterday. One more indication of the junkshow administration running our country. I think I am going to write in Jon Stewarts name when I vote this year...;)
Foggy- so sorry to hear about your friend! remember the good times...

RIP Mike Bloss, may your friends and family find peace.
Crinkle, I'll keep your bro in my prayers that he makes it back here safely. Is he the same bro that I met at Strand's or another brother?

That grimacing she-jackal. I thought she was smug half the time (what's with the smiling?) and condo-scending (arr arr) and the other she was just trying to filibuster and stall, obfuscating answers and playing playing playing for time. She tried to play the victim card - blame the intelligence community and Clinton - remember, 2004 is the year of the victim..
Too weird when that senator kept calling her Dr. Clarke...I kept going WTF? He was actually a good interogator, but WTF? And then she says "I don't think I lool like Dick Clarke" and I said out loud to no one, "No, you look like a lying sack of shit".
She gave me the willies.

I lost a college classmate a few months ago, so far Montana's only casualty. I read the name in the paper, and I was thinking, "shit, I recognize that name..." And then his face hit me...oh damn.
out of respect for the dead, I don't think there should be political discussions going on within this thread...I think those should have their own thread. They do have substance, and definitely deserve discuission. But that's just me. I think that anger and sympathy are one thing, but an agenda should be carried somewhere else, sacred ground and whatnot. Not trying to step on anybody's toes, just being respectful for our comrades.
RIP, fellas.
Praying every day that my 2 younger cousins get their dad back from Iraq in one piece after patching together the ones who won't be & Iraqi civilians.

That's rough. It sounds like he was a good man.
My old unit has been activated twice. Both times they got their shit together and sat around an Armory for a week and then were sent home. My former roommate Foster which some of you have met is still in. The last time I talked to him he was sure the next time he got called he would be headed overseas. So glad I'm out.

Good Point, Jetter. I completely understand. Pain and suffering of losing someone is a terrible event. I think many of us on this board share the same opinion and feel that if it wasn't for a certain leadership and how they handled Iraq- then perhaps these threads would not occur and our friends and loved ones would still be here. Yes, we may include an opinion- but it is only in frustration. We all hate to see somebody lose a loved one or friend and I can only pray and hope that we don't experience more casualties as a result of decisions that have been made as we move forward.
In respect to Foggy and others- please move comments to next thread "Reserved for Iraq Discussion".
RIP, Mike. May the slopes of WP/MJ be covered in deep powder this weekend as a true send off to that endless powder run above.

Jetter is right. There have been a lot of words back and forth in this forum about the war. I believe, though, that everyone, despite their convictions about the larger decisions and those who make them, truly appreciate the sacrifices of those put in harm's way. I know I do. God bless them and their families.
