Most of you have probably read this already, but Chris Smith, senior web type dude at primevil, just sort of appointed Cletus as king of the maggots (or at least made him chief historian). I can't think of a better guy for the job, but I wonder what Yossarian thinks about it?

Well, I didn't vote for you.
You don't vote for kings.
Well, how did you become King, then?
The Lady of the Lake... her arm clad in the purest shimmering samite, held aloft Excalibur from the bosom of the water signifying by Divine Providence that I, Arthur, was to carry Excalibur.
That is why I am your king!

Listen. Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.

Is there such thing as becoming King of a non-exsitant Kingdom?

"I fart in your general direction"
I mean, if I went around saying I was emperor because some moistened bint lobbed a simitar at me, they'd put me away.

WTF?
Huh?
Cletus is busy being a corporate bitch, but I'll try to get him to figure out what the hell has happened in the past week and half. He knows the basics, but has been offline in Chicago and now North Carolina since last Monday. Certainly hasn't seen anything in the last two days.
I'll try to get him on the ball, but it might not be until late in the week.
gotta run

You all go right ahead and hail away Cletus.
There's no Cletus over here (thank god) and I have it on good authority that he isn't going to be posting much over there for quite a while either, at least until Pliny The Elder can guarantee that his posts aren't just going to get erased.
Anyway, I'm staying over here. Nice features, nice feel. Nice work Owens.

"Naught is more hostile to a city than a despot; where he is, there are first no laws common to all, but one man is tyrant, in whose keeping and in his alone the law resides, and in that case equality is at an end. ……
…Again, where the people are absolute rulers of the land, they rejoice in having reserve of youthful citizens, while a king counts this a hostile element, and strives to slay the leading men, all such as he deems discreet, for he feareth for his power. How then can a city remain stable, where one cuts short all enterprise and mows down the young like meadow-flowers in spring-time? What boots it to acquire wealth and livelihood for children, merely to add to the tyrant's substance by one's toil? Why train up virgin daughters virtuously in our homes to gratify a tyrant's whim, whenso he will, and cause tears to those who rear them? May my life end if ever my children are to be wedded by violence! "
