View Full Version : Need recommendation on P&S

My wife's b-day is coming up and I wanted to get her a P&S that will fit in the little camera pocket on her Dakine pack - I am partial to Canon (I have shot Canon SLRs all my life) and would like something with a few features. I remember folks liking the A510(?) - She is using a 3mp elph right now so maybe an upgrade from that. Anyone have any obvious choices?

i picked up the powershot s3 is, it's pretty small and still has a lot of good features. i'm use to a slr, it's 6mp with a 12x zoom. the new one is a s5 with 8mp.

So now I am thinking the Canon A560 - anyone have experience with this? (the Digi III is the draw...)

I've used its predecessor the A550. Nice little camera. With the D3, you unfortunately won't be able to take advantage of the firmware upgrades of the A6 series:

interested but going to need some guidance on the scratchpad page - what exactly am I looking at? (I ended up getting her an A560)...Digi III baby...

TELEB- not to threadjack, but I just got an s3 also, and while the size is great compared to an SLR, it is still not a pocket cam. I want to carry this thing with me mountain biking and skiing, do you know of a good small case for this? How are you carrying it now?
