Hey guys, im considering buying a Sigma 200-500 zoom. I was just wondering what eveyones opinions were of the Sigma brand. This is for my Nikon D80.

The other item i was wondering about is the Canon GL1. Ive read alot about them, and it sounds like it will suit my needs the best, but is there a better alternative out there?

Sigma EX lenses tend to be very good, especially for the price... just hope you never have to deal with their service dept

I think you might be confused....the Sigma 200-500 is not even for sale yet, and will probably cost many thousands of dollars.

I've got both a Sigma 24-70 EX and a 70-200 EX, neither have given me any problems and take good photos. My budget kept me from going with the equivalent Canon lenses and I'm happy with my decision. I also picked up a Sigma flash a couple weeks ago that I have been playing with a good bit. I haven't really heard anything about either of the lenses you linked to, but like Summit said, the EX series tends to be pretty good.
