View Full Version : Copying custom actions between Photoshops
Is there a way I can just copy some custom actions from one copy of Photoshop CS2 to another? I have a bunch of recorded actions on my desktop CS2 that I'd like to transfer to my laptop without having to re-record them manually. I looked under the Program Files > Adobe > Adobe Photoshop CS2 folder, but didn't see any action files.
Thanks.
mine are located here...
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS2\Presets\Photoshop Actions
hope that helps
I found the default actions in there. But my custom actions are in a separate custom set. They're not in that directory.
???
You could search your whole HD for them. What's the extension? .atn or something? Do a windows search for *.atn
good luck

Actually, oppen up the actions pallet in P.S. at the top there is a little arrow. Click it, and then choose export actions. You can import them the same way.
^^^ Great, that worked.
It seems that custom actions don't really have an .atn file (I searched). They somehow reside inside PS. I chose the Save actions option from the Actions palette menu and saved all the actions in my custom set as an .atn file. Copied that .atn file to the new PS and did a Load actions command from the Actions palette menu of the newPS.
Worked like a charm. Thanks, all!
