Why the hell is it that either:

A.) Anybody who owns a frame shop is a complete fucking idiot

or

B.) Anybody who owns a frame shop hires complete fucking idiot employees

or

C.) is/does both

I mean seriously, how fucking hard is a little simple math and geometry, a small amount of mechanical inclination, combined with a little bit of attention paid to what it is you're doing? How hard is it to LOOK at the "finished" product and make sure that it isn't scratched, lines up right, and is overall a FINISHED PRODUCT?

Answer: Not very.

So why is it that 7 out of 10 frames I order are totally fucked almost consistantly? (and this isn't just one shop)
I mean come the fuck on people!

[End Rant]

What do you use the router for? Edge treatment? Splines?

...and where do you get your immigrant lumberjacks?

Cuba-

The router is used to give the picture a place to rest. Take a look at a frame- you'll see. It's all about angles- it ain't that hard. Angles and ballbearings.

Wouldn't a pillow be more comfortable?

I always go to a DIY Frame shop. Nobody else to blame that way.

OK, I feel like a retard. I always use a table saw for that, but I suppose a router works, too.

I don't know how you could do that cut with a table saw.

Edit- it is a rabbet.

That guy might know about frames, but his mats (mattes?) are cut wrong. I was taught to always make the bottom of the mat slightly thicker than the top - it gives the picture a visual pedestal within the frame.

It's similar to the rule of thirds - although the image is centered in the frame it looks too "low."
