Step back, deep breath and shoe me in the dusters if that wasn't a sweet ass movie.

Some of the best helmet cam footage I've yet seen (the Dean Cummings drop in is almost vertigo inducing) and Seb Garhammer picks some nice lines.

As in the TGR board as in the movie with a fleeting glimpse of the stealthy phUnkster. Nice to see Vinnie at the end and the Figure 8 racing was fkn jaw droppingly stupid. I also rated the idiocy involved in leaping up and down on thin ice, riding an office chair down a hill and having kids sledges launched at you.

Big props to Slip for sending me a copy through with a bunch of schwag and totally stoked to see myself on there . :o [/o-face]

Yeah roo-ster! I saw that junk a couple weeks ago and nobody knew what I was talking about when I said "wait'll you see roo". I talked to Deano last friday and told him that was one of the best helmet cams I'd ever seen. He brushed it off like another day at the office. Lucky dood.

I'd only ever seen the hillclimb in Rachau Austria. I think the Rachau track has a longer slope that gradually gets ever steeper. I like to see those bikes cartwheeling.

Totally the best helmet cams ever! Prolly in part of that the whole film is shot digi, so you can't see the diff in quality in comparison to 16mm like you get with TGR and MSP.

That road gap bonus is plain crazyness. It is also nice to see Tanner Hall actually turn. The neck injury seggy scares the shit out of me.

I would have liked to see some kind of intro in addition to what was there. Some kind of like "build" is what I would call it in a song.

Some good music.

I think the $28 was a little high though. It really does not touch any TGR or MSP flick of the past two years, so how can you price it on that level??

Pics of the SLC show posted by Slip on Powmag if interested. I took a few pics and then my camera was passed around the masses.

Watching Plake slide rails on 208s(?) is just plain bizarro.

IMO,actually, I thought it was a forced stunt that should not have been attempted. Strangely reminiscent of the stream gap attempts from Prophecy. In both cases even if pulled off without injury, the footage obtained would have been and, in the case of Junk Show was mediocre.

The rest of the movie though, kicked ass. It's nice to see some different skiers and locales.

As for Tanner, did you see the same movie I did? I was hoping to finally see him rip up some big mountain stuff like I have heard he can, but I still haven't seen it on video - too bad.

my refferal to Tanner was off the cornice drop at Whistler after one of his landings he makes two turns.

I for one thought it was worth the coin to go to the show and buy a copy.

That road gap seggy and the redneck mounting extras were my favorite.

Yea, after I posted that I was pissed about the price, I thought about it...I am always pissed about prices.

Now I am thinkning a total contradiction to what I was a few days ago. I have already watched it over 5 times, and I am really liking the mellow flow-- a good change from the "kick your ass with raddnes" flicks that the big guys have dialed to a perfection.

I like the first chapter of the extras, I think it is the best seggy on the DVD.

That Avie is huge, very cool too. yEa.

I am suprised of no mention on Jamie Pierre, dude goes HUGE!

Yea, I am stoked to see what they come up with next year. (with as tought as this industry is, I hope there is another)

Yea, the Tanner Hall shit is at Beartooth, the mention some camp, Whistler poped into my head. But that same seggy, Ben whatever's line, the split screen with helmet cam thru a narrow chute straightline--- SICK!

I don't know how I missed this...the first two times thru-reefer.

Yea I basically agree, that was not a good gap. I don't think that seggy makes himself look too good. Did you notice that everyone was running up to the injured skier and he would slowley walk up? My friend got toally pissed at that.

50 foot gap to a 30 foot landing???

I don't jump over asphalt if I am pretty sure I will make it.
Although, I do sense sarcasm in your post, but I can't be sure.

And this year's winner of Powder Mag's best powder segment goes to??!!!

I think JSD has this one in the bag along with the best helmet came footage. I haven't had a chance to see Hife Life or Focused yet, but those pow shots from Bridger were some of the best I've seen. I agree that it is an average flick, but the extra's made it worth buying.

I loved the movie, it was great to see all the bridger locals.

The powder sequence with steve was sweet. Thought it was pretty funny when he was sounding like a snob saying the big day the year before was better. Then they showed the footage from the big day the year before and backed him up.

I am getting a bit tired of the BB commercial that Matt did however.

Not really that important....but did anyone else notice Deano rippin on the older, green AK Rockets?

Seb and Jon's segment absolutely rules...gotta love those monster airs they throw down towards the end. And Jons' fall is why I wear armor. Kick ass music too. Let me HOLLER! :)

I liked the whole road gap thing but largely due to the fact that I'm an expert in building road gaps that never work and like to see some others building a jump that was doomed to mediocrity too.

The lesson I learned that unless you've really got some decent vert between the skier and the tarmac it's barely worth doing. BrownMonkey and I built a kicker this year across the Alpe d'Huez road, looked at it the next morning and just realised it wasn't ever going to be spectacular enough to continue with.

I've spotted a drop on the way to Kirkwood that looks utterly awesome. A solid 50 foot drop across the road...

OOoohh! This sounds like it shaping up to be THE BATTLE IN BOZEMAN! Coming soon on Pay-per-view!

I think it should be a DRINK-OFF!!! With Mountainman judging of course. Then again, he'd probably be drunk too. Oh well.

I do not recommend going head to head with MT in a drink off. the boy can put'em down. Look at this title for chist sake, the man deserves.

fez - you going to the TGR show on Friday?

fez
10-08-2003, 12:17 PM
Can't make the show, i'll be at work friday night.

I'd go head to head against anyone drinking. There are things you learn working in restaurants for 20 years and being on a rowing team for 4. One of them is how to put it away.

One thing to keep in mind though, never get into irish car bomb races with my wife. She has never lost.

The Snow Creek Saloon mixes some of the meanest drinks I have ever had. Their idea of a Jack and Coke consists of a couple ice cubes, overflowing the glass with Jack so there is literally a pool of whiskey on the bar, then spritzing a little coke in there for color. Some good shit.

I used to pretty much live at the snowcreek. If you walk out the door, look diagonal across the intersection, and up one floor, you are looking at my former bedroom window.

Ever been to quarter beers? I've ordered $10 worth before. That sucked, for sure by the time you and your buddy get to the end of 40 cheap, past date, stank ass beers, they are warm.

Castro's

Yeah, I've been to quater beers. It got pretty wild there this summer after the Bela Fleck concert at the fairgrounds. It was right after Sturgis so the bar with filled with bikers, and the regular crowd, plus everyone from all over the state who had come down for the concert. There were a bunch of Kiwi's there who had their bikes shipped over for Sturgis. Those guys were a riot. My business card ended up stapled above the bar right next to a picture of a 60 year old woman showing her tits.

Yeah, thats one problem with red lodge. there are lots of chicks willing to show their boobs. Just not many you'd want to see.

Just watched TJSD again last night and love the editing on the Tanner Hall/Heath Ordway section. That shit is genius. I'd have to agree that much of the jibbing is nothing wholly new but the style rules.

Keep replaying the Seb and Jon seg too.

I agree with everybody on the seb/jon segment. Defintiely the sickest of the flick. Jamie Pierre went off as well.

I agree with Funken on that roadgap. The whole time I was watching that I just kept thinking "this doesn't make sense". Bad place to build a gap, skiers definitely not feeling it (with good reason). etc.. I would've looked for someplace else to build that hit.

I really like the movie, the Tannar/Heath seg is some of the most enjoyable 5min of movie I've seen in a long time, it's also nice to see something different, all the big movies are sick but they all have the same feel to them, I like the homies/up and coming aspect, and the crash segment is epic, as well as the hill climb bonus footage! ouch to say the least. The more I watch it the better it becomes
