So what's up with the truck. Looks like you took out an elk and it shit all over the passenger side bumper? I guess I missed something. Is it being fixed? Looks like it could be.

Sorry about your rig and hope no one got hurt. Looks like it was on it's lid. There's a couple of shoe trees East of here in the desert.

Not an elk. Just an airhead blonde. It's at Splat's house now. I think he's gonna look for a hookup on the body work for me. The transmission may be facked too.

I can't believe SheRa and Uberscheist walked away from that truck after how ever many rollovers they did. Without a scatch.
Word is that Uber was licking macaroni and cheese out of a plastic container, which was funny enough for SheRa to take a pic (while doing 70mph) which led to uhhhhhh.....that.

Easier said than done. SheRa didn't have full coverage insurance.
Which is why I offered to help as much as I could, then bring in Pedro and the boys for the finish work. Got that top jacked up almost to the point a windshield could be put in today, but seein as how you can't bend glass, it's gonna need a lil more finessing.

Glad you walked away from zat one!!!!

Dang Shera, hope you made it out okay, I'm assuming that if you are standing next to the wreck......Where did you see that shoe tree? We used to have one just NW of Greeley, it got struck by lighting twice and the eventaully cut it down.....or it burned down, one of the two

Glad you're both safe. Sorry about the truck.

I had the good fortune of driving my bother's Ferrari to Monterey and back this past summer. On the return trip I came through South Lake Tahoe on highway 50 - big fun. :D

I should have made haste for the Interstate after Carson City, but I had the misfortune of taking highway 50 all the way to Ely. There's a reason they call hwy 50 The Loneliest Road in America.

That sucks, especially about the insurance. Glad you're both OK. I didn't think the sides were that banged up that's why I didn't think it had rolled. I'm part of the toyota rollover club as well. Brand new 4runner 3500kms, 5 weeks after driving it off the lot. My roof was more stoved in than that. Insurance paid $8000 to fix it 14 years ago.

No... just west of Austin on the flattest, straightest peice of road in the world. Nothing on that stretch to throw you off...

I was was going to say the 70 mph limit is merely a suggestion; but, maybe it's to reduce the carnage of people licking mac & cheese from plastic containers and those who would take photos of same while driving.

We touched a buck sixty.

Repeat: Glad you're both alright after your moment.

Shoe cultivation is now vying for a top spot in Nevada's economy.
Even though I said I'd never eat genetically engineered shoes, I think I'll try one after seeing how yummy they look.

We have a "Shoe Tree" on Greek Row at the UW. Didn't realize they grew outside of Washington ;)

Being from the Bay and went to College in Boulder, and a couple 4th of July's in Telluride...I've driven every different way to Colorado. From the "Death Valley Detour" to the "4 Corners Carnival"...I have to say HWY 50 in Nevada "ROCKS."

Sorry to hear about your car, I too have the shirt, and some stickers...but I'm a freak. Hwy 50 has character, like no other section in the US. Character such as how the hell do people live in Ely or why is there even a road here. Sand Mountain, ridiculously long straight-aways, and of course Austin's infamous Mountain Bike Park.

Biggest tip: When driving this road, watch your speed. Not just for the one cop that works the highway, but for the health of your car. Having cruise control set at 101mph does wonders to your coolant system.

If you define chalk-line engineering as character, who am I to argue. Now that I've added highway 50 to my been-there, done-that list, I'm in no hurry to repeat the experience.

Highway 50 from Sacramento through Placerville to South Lake Tahoe, that stretch has character.

Those 90 mph cows are really big

I can see why the cows do 90. If I had to drive that stretch, I would too.

Of course, next time I might not be so lucky at talking my way out of a ticket like I had to at the Summit...

wow. ouch. glad all are ok.

some friends of mine hit a black cow at night on hwy 50 a few years ago. wrecked their new (to them, anyway) toyota pickup but noone was hurt.

then - get this - the tow truck comes to pick them up, and hooks up the truck etc. then they are driving toward ely (the nearest town) and the towtruck AND their pickup gets sideswiped by a drunk driver! the towtruck guy turns on his flashing lights and the drunk guy is so wasted that he thinks its a cop and pulls over while frantically throwing beer cans out the window!! the towtruck driver calls the cops on his cb, then jumps out and keeps the drunk guy there until the cops arrive.

problem was, our friends got stuck in ely for like 4 days while they got their pickup fixed - and it was WAAAAAY more than $15-hungee!
