I finally am figuring out the dslr manual controls on my d80 and am looking to invest about 2,000$ in glass. I currently have the 18-135 kit lens that comes with the d80 which is ok for the price. Anyway i'm thinking the 18-200 and maybe a fisheye......any other suggestions for someone who shoots majorily action/sports, scenics, wildlife? any input would be appreciated....thanks.

80-200f2.8 or 70-200f2.8, 12-24f4, something in the 18-35f2.8 or 17-55f2.8 range, and if you are serious about wildlife a 300mmf4 w/TC or longer if your budget can afford. That can eat up the budget quick. Try KEH for some used examples.

The 10.5 fish is meh. Fish are way, way overdone. On the plus side it's small, fast and light.

Wouldn't the 18-200 be redundant? Why get another F3.5-5 range lens?
Get the 80-200 2.8 and something else, or just get the 70-200 2.8.

Is the quality of the 18-135 equal to the 18-200? I haven't seen it.

If you do go with the 18-200, can you sell the 18-135 for any decent $$?

I highly recommend the 18-200, especially for walking around photography. Not having to change lenses is key. The F3.5-5 is the limiter, though. Go with 2.8 glass at this point. You will not regret it.
