Went on an awesome hike this weekend to Rickett's Glen State Park in Central Pennsylvania. This state park was evidently slated to become a national park, but the plans were bagged after WWII broke out (don't know how a war affects national park status, but I guess WWII was a matter not to be taken lightly!). After my visit, I can see why... this place was amazing! On this one hike, we passed 22 named waterfalls...

We went on Saturday.. in the rain (Seattle Mags would be proud!)... mental note - get rain gear for hiking. The hike is about 7.5 miles and we finished it in a little under 4 hours (maybe 3 1/2).

One waterfall:

Definitely a hike to consider if you live in the mid-Atlantic area...

And to give you an idea of size, in the bottom left of this one is Miss road trip:

Nice shots! I'll have to add that hike to the list of places to check out.

I heading to Blacksburg this weekend for the Tech homecoming game and I'll probably hike Dragon's Tooth while down there. Nothing like a good long hike to flush the residual alcohol out of your system.

If you hike Ricketts Glen, be sure to have good hiking boots.. some of the climbs are on rocks practicially built into the side of some of the waterfalls. You really don't want to take any steps lightly...

Nice work. Makes me realize that I need to get in my truck and drive to a trailhead, maybe do some fly fishing. mmm.

Definitely NOT bike-able... this is strictly hiking (and not just because bikes are "not allowed")

Dragon's Tooth is just outside Blacksburg, VA. It's an awesome hike. At the top there are these sandstone spires you can climb up on and get a 360 degree view of the surrounding valleys. A GREAT Fall hike!

We ended up not doing Dragon's Tooth. We hiked around the Natural Bridge area though. Natural Bridge is supposed to be one of the 7 wonder of the world.

I hope this photo posting thing works, I'm such a internet JONG...
