No real sites for Juneau/Southeast, Alaska reports, but if you need em, let me know. I am out most everyday somewhere in the Juneau/Haines/Chilkat Peninsula/Northern Admiralty Island area and all creeks in between from now until November. Heres to a good season, NOW BRING ON THE HOGS!!

In MN and WI, it's:

Just and FYI for the midwest mags. Now if it would just warm up enough to keep the ice out of my guides I'd be very happy.

Just talked to my dad - he is in Houston for a couple days before he and my mom head back to Venezuela. He was planning on fishing salt water tomorrow for reds, but they are calling for 40mph-60mph winds on the coast, so he and a friend are going fresh water fishing for bass inland. His friend is paralyzed from the waist down (doctors don't know the cause, but he was exposed to Agent Orange in Vietnam) but can still cast a fly rod. All his hair fell out and one day he woke up paralyzed. My dad gets him in the front of the boat so that he can cast and helps him along.

We have a "100%" chance of snow here for the next two days with high winds. I am hoping to get out to the river this weekend, but it will depend on the weather.

I was out on the provo last week, they were taken BWO off the surface... The fish were very, very, leader shy and only hitting the smallest of the small flys.

The hatch started are 12:30ish and ran till about 4:00.

72Twenty, thats fukin sweet what your dad does for his friend. Big props to him. Dont see a whole lot of that stuff going around these days.
Heard rumor of some steelies running here in Juneau yesterday. The thaw is JUST now starting and I may be jumping the gun a little, BUT I will be hittin the stream right in the face tomorrow. It's been warm enough for the bears to start stirring, I may have a cool TR coming out of the next couple days. Tight lines.

I might try to get out on the river a little in the morning, but the low tonight is supposed to be 16 degrees. I'l post a little TR if anything comes of it.

Fished the Snake in Grand Teton Nat'l park this afternoon...no decent pics.

Sunny, 45ish and windy! Streamer bite and dredging were both OK. Numbers were not so good but we saw excellent size---FAT and Healthy!!!

Good fishin' to everyone this weekend!

I think I am going to fish this evening instead. The wife wants to go over to Cheyenne, so now I have an excuse to browse Sierra Trading Post ;) . The weather is clear and sunny right now, but still cold. Hopefully by this afternoon/evening the wind stays calm...

Not a fishing report, but a great resource for the salty folks.

The Florida info is usually spot on, so I would assume it will be good for your area, too.

Well, fished the Big Laramie this evening. I didn't think it deserved it's own thread, though. I didn't catch anything, but saw a couple little ones rise. They were hitting midges and I was fresh out. I got there about an hour before sunset and fished for about an hour and a half. Man, when the sun starts to set, it gets cold in a hurry. Here is a shot I took standing in the river when the sun was dropping over the Snowy Range.

Caddis are on the move

by Paul Goetz
Mail News Editor

Suggested patterns for April 18-25

Weekend patterns for the Arkansas River are provided by Erin Bull, Anglers Junction, 845 Oak St., Salida, www.anglersjunction.com.

Depending on weather conditions, baetis continue working well in the afternoon and in overcast conditions.

Caddis activity is starting between Parkdale and Texas Creek.

Anglers are seeing some action on streamers in deeper pools.

Tuesday the river was running at 320 cubic feet per second through Salida and 353 cfs at Wellsville.

Nymphs: No 20 Kingrey's black ice No. 16 lime copper john, No. 10 beadhead 20 inchers, No. 18 through 20 wild turkey baetis, No. 14 through 16 Kingrey's latex caddis.

Dry flies No. 16 tan elk hair caddis, No. 18 through 20 blue wing olive hatch matchers, No. 18 through 20 parachute Adams.

Streamers: No. 12 Olive woolly bugger.

Fishing conditions for local reservoirs are provided by Dave Kelly, Hi Rocky, 111 Cottonwood Ave., Buena Vista, www.hirocky.com.

Turquoise Lake remains frozen, but offers good ice fishing for rainbow and lake trout. There are some nice lake trout being caught on the north east corner in more shallow water and rainbow trout are still hitting on the east shore by the dam.

Twin Lakes ice is about half gone and there is some good shore fishing on the west end. Power bait is working best on rainbow trout and large lures are working best for lake trout.

Fishing at the forebay is also good and rainbow trout are hitting on nightcrawlers fished on the bottom. Lake trout are hitting large lures and Rainbow Rapalas.

Clear Creek Reservoir is beginning to open on the west end and there is some shore fishing there. The ice is questionable, so be careful and check before going out too far. Fishing has improved and the fish are hitting on small jigs tipped with meal worms and salmon eggs.

Cottonwood Lake is open on the west end and fish are being caught on small lures and Montera Marvels. There is also some good fishing through the ice along the south shore.

Frantz and Sand lakes are open and fishable and have been good fishing this spring for rainbows. Frantz has been producing a few good small mouth bass.

Weekend patterns for the South Platte "Dream Stream" are provided by Pat Dorsey, The Blue Quill Angler, 1532 Bergen Pkwy., Evergreen, www.bluequillangler.com.

Concentrate efforts in slow, deep pools. Have a good assortment of midges, larvae and pupae. Anglers can expect some sporadic dry fly-fishing with adult midges in slow, deep tailouts. Egg patterns will be effective for the next month or so.

Nymphs: No. 16 hot tail flash egg, No. 20 mercury blood midge, No. 22 and 22 mercury black beauty, No. 20 and 24 top secret midge, No 18 and 22 red mercury flashback pheasant tail, No. 18 and 20 buckskin, No 22 and 24 mercury baetis.

Emergers: No. 20 and 22 Barr's emerger, No. 20 and 22 Churchill's sparkle wing RS II.

Dry flies: No. 20 through 26 parachute Adams, No. 20 through 24 Griffith gnat, and No. 20 through 24 Hi-Vis baetis.

Finally warmed up out here but the rivers are super high so they're out.

Lakes are still deathly cold. Managed 4 browns and a rainbow on white wooly buggers in Plymouth, MA.

Hit up the Blue above Green Mountain today in search of the Big Boys. No luck with them but lots of dinks. Mostly on red/redish Pheasant Tails (brown worked too, just not as well.) Flows are coming up and the water is a little off color in a good way.

I've been picking up a lot of large mouth's in 3 to 7 feet of water. Using Blue and White streamers, running them about a foot or two above the weed line. And, frog's, dead banking them of the shore, docks, ect...

The top streamer is 4 inches long.

Green Streamers are working well now (as is blue).. but fishing over deeper water. 20 to 25 feet of water, picking them up in the 10 to 15 foot range.

Frogs are working in shallows, white belly. Dead banking. Bass are hit them as soon as they hit the water.

The larger bass are moving back in to the shallows, sandy bottoms 6 to 3 feet of water.

Crayfish pattern's rusty brown and darker greens, large woolly buggers black, silver, white. Smaller streamers blue and white.

so, FINALLY got back to the hometown to fish the beaverhead. big hole is closed, obviously, but the beav was pretty good. beadheads as always, and had alot of luck with humpys. the water is HOT. probably 60+ degrees. wet wading is wonderful. it was a great day, sight fishing, crawling on your belly to get to the surface feeders kinda day. amazing. why did i move to wyoming? anyway, for that side of the world, the north fork of the shoshone, the south fork of the shoshone, the sho sho below the damn, the clarks fork, the whole nine yards is done. muddy, nasty, at the rate its going it will be good again in the winter. why did i move to wyoming???????:cussing:

I am wondering the same thing. WY has some hidden treasures and plenty of good water that everyone knows about but MT is where it's at! Too bad I can't convince my Wife to move back.

Muddy, gooey mess down here too. Although, when things clear up, it should go off. The best fishing of the season hasn't started yet. Can't wait for some Jellystone Fall days! Maybe we outta have a WY/MT fall fishing summit, for the 3 or 4 of us that seem to be into slinging fly lines??

that would be cool. that would actually be amazing. so anyway the newest from up here. people have been finding dead fish around where the n fork and the s fork roll into the dam. shell creek and most of the rest of the big horns is good, but we are still f*cked here. water is still murky, nasty, not really that great. i guess really high on the n fork up towards the east fork it is clear, but damn, thats a long way up there. crandall creek and sunlight creek were good a couple of weeks ago. this season has really kinda sucked. no fishing on lunch break for sure....gotta drive too far :-s

fishing has been pretty good in montana lately. the water has cooled off and just about all the restrictions have been lifted. water is low for sure, I floated the blackfoot maybe a month ago and we had to drag the raft more than a few times. had some great dry fly fishing, probably my best day of the year.

the browns are just starting to run, my favorite time of year. i pulled a 18" brown out of bozeman creek in my backyard a week ago. had a few good days on the gallatin and hit up the yellowstone last friday. as usual, the yellowstone was windy and lots of whitefish, caught a nice rainbow on a streamer though.

my brother and a bunch of his friends are coming out from maine for a week on the missouri in a couple weeks. should be a good time of fishing and drinking if any of you wyo mags feel like a road trip. we'll be up on the mo from 10/12 through the 21st

between looking forward to that trip on the mo and how good fishing has been, im hardly even thinking about skiing.

Cape Cod Bay is still producing big bluefin.
This may be endgame on tuna for this year but 3 fish in the boat and a sore as hell back. :D

The bass on the other hand are being uncooperative and with the coming temp drops from this rain it should light back off in force.
