I'll kick it off with a few pictures from Squaw on Saturday.
Here's the South Lake crew invading the base area:

Some of the finger chutes in Silverado (in the shadows). Several of us dropped the one to looker's right:

Last couple runs on the west face of KT. The next line we hit, right beside this, involved a rock garden, some trees, and a funky little chute that choked into a straightline to air to dogleg left. No pictures of that because I was too busy making sure I didn't fall and slide all the way down to the Headwall chair (you can see the bottom of it in the pic).

Saying goodbye, again at the top of West Face. It's about a 50 degree pitch at the top.

I have a pic of you cowboying out of that little chute. As it was taken from below, pointing up, the steepness is not evident and the photo does not even come close to doing the line justice. Once I scan it, I may post it, making sure that everyone keeps in mind the steepness apparent in that awesome shot of yours. ;)
Thanks again for the tour, spats.

char: any time.
gincognito: ditto. Post away. I'm not a rockstar.
Note the angle of the trees in the background: I rotated the pic so they were vertical. The steepness now agrees with my gut check: about 45 at the top, more at the rollover.

I'm taking a day off today to ease the sun burn! Damn it was hot at Alpine yesterday - spent most of the day in the park to escape the knee deep poling downhill glop that was smeared across most of the mountain.
I'll be up at Squaw with Shera and the crew tomorrow and will definitely be at the Kirkwood and the Beav on Friday (as long as I don't wreck myself on the Palisades in the meantime).

quick gin story from Sunday at KW....
Me, bullet, skier666, & gincognito are standing on top of Upper Cham. A damn steep, rocky chute where you have to slide in to skier's right, cowboy over a horizontal rock band not 5 feet below the cornice, then bust out a quick airplane turn to the left upon landing before ramming into the skier's right rock wall which hems the chute. Quick, steep, technical, and dynamic. Once you get through this series of opening moves you're pretty much home free as long as you keep your speed under control.
so anyways, we're all scoping it out, having second thoughts about dropping in because it was pretty damn icy...when skier666 decides to slide into it. He slides in, gets over the first band of rocks, but catches a tip on the skiers right rock wall as he goes to bust that left turn and he slides out exposing a few more rocks within the chute making it even more dicey.
upon seeing skier666 slide out (which rarely ever happens....dudes always on his feet), me, bullet, and gin decide to take an alternate route around.
So bullet and I skate away to an adjacent chute thinking that gin is right behind us when I turn to look over my shoulder and I only see bullet. Hey where the heck did Gin go?
Then I look back up the ridge just in time to see his helmet dip below the edge of Upper Cham. He decided to drop it once everyone left.....we then went through our alternate chute and came around the bottom of Upper Cham just in time to finish see him thoroughly ripping it up.
It was sweet.
sick, ashamed, (and thoroughly impressed with Gin's humble ripping)

Here's a shot of Upper Cham from earlier this season. The picture doesn't show how sketch the top 2 turns are since I didn't want to look over the edge.
Probably one of the sketchiest lines in Kirkwood since there's no room for a fuck up.

Not good image but recent. Big dump 2-26-04 buried even more rocks. Early season this whole area is way more rocky so lots of danger where rocks might lie beneath.

He went back for more on Upper Chamoix.
Apparently, this time it chewed him up and spit him all the way into lower chamoix.
He was feeling pretty good today and made some turns, not quite sure how that went, but I think he is OK. :)

If you take tomorrow off, take it off to meet some new people and hang with a big crew. The nighttime temps have been remaining pretty high so the conditions vary between soft wet snow, hardpack, some chalk and some 'corn'.

666, i think everyone is going to the wood tomorrow. hardrider heard some rumor about half of alpine meadows being 'closed' because of the melt off or some such crap.
the lines in west shore, to the skiers left (skiers right of the tree line), above the traverse have been a blast. :) definitely going back there tomorrow.

Just got in from the wood. WOW! This summit has rocked so GOOOOOOOD! The Battered Beaver went off last night with a great local weed band and dancing and puking and passed out maggots and screaming and.......oh shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit. Too cool.
A surprise showing by funkendrenchman, Endless and Crash made it. Overflowing fistfuls of maggots everywhere. This am we hit 10@10 for some icy wall runs then off to the backside for some OB runs. I lost track of everyone, so I went to get my skins to do California Chute and found Geoff sleeping on a table in the Beaver, so I dragged him along. Just as we start hiking off chair 4, up skis Greydon Clark and some bros and we're off. Hit the chute and skied out by the lake only to find Walter Sobchak and his brother skinning up out of the lows because they couldn't pass up all the great turns out the bottom of West Shore. Made last chair on 4 and hit Vista for the last cream of the day. Wow.
Great time. Only wish SheRa and Uber could have stayed for last night and today. So many wonderful people to mention, but I am beyond thinking - so I'll just say you are all totally FKNA AWESOME and I wish we all skied together everyday of the year!
Thank you all for coming to make it such a great time!

Today #$@% rocked...Mid-winter, yes, I said mid-winter, groomers off 6. You guys may think I'm a little gay but I LOVE the groomers off of 6. Sentinel was smoother than...well it was smooth.
Hooked up with Schmear to witness him straightline all the groomers, and then headed over to 10 to meet the crew.
Night Panda, Tyrone, Clack, Splat, Nater, Geoff, Slim, Hardrider,Endless.....so many people.
Hit up Westshore for a few OB runs, great steep smoth windblown...
Oh yeah...it was also like 90 F...good times.

That strongly depends on which five maggots we are talking about here. Could be anything from "sproing!" to "sweaty man-sandwich".

Two maggettes out of five? Not bad I say, better than the typical 10-1 ratio...

Keep the pics a coming ... stokage is on
I say the Canucks rock! You guys are awesome! Would love to see your home hills sometime. And it's good to see you coming out of lurk. Gimme your addy and I'll send you guys some Mark Twain. :D
Divegirl!!! What a maggot you are! So happy to call you my sister. Keep that stoke on the hill; it feeds the fire for all of us.
The flophouse was beyond cool. Coming up the stairs in the morning to a medley of British accents was a trip and a half. Galaga and race car wars were ongoing.
And that Kirkwood crew. What can I say? They have it going on. I just attached myself on the first day and hung on for the ride. Find a pair of Seth Pistol's (Cush) or Explosive's (hardrider) and follow the show. :D Wish we had such a good vibe going on in Summit County.
Splat is the most amazing individual I've met in some time. Maybe certifiable. ;) He's got my wrecked truck in his front yard right now.

Two of my friends that came along for the ride to the liberty of slapping some on the Harvey's parking sign, the patigonia window, and a bunch of other place in south lake. As of the Friday we left the one on the Harveys sign was the only one that had survived.

i like that idea! would be fun to pick a w/e and do some MTB'ing (Flume, Hole in the Ground, Toads, etc), wake boarding, BBQ'ing, etc.....
I would volunteer to host a BBQ one evening @ mi casa in Truckee.....

Although I mainly took still shots during the Tahoe summit, the camcorder did come out with us on day one and Mrs Roo got me crashing (http://www.eengoedidee.nl/videoz/skiing/tahoe04.avi ) whilst trying to avoid the Random Chas Factor as I came out of Boulder Narrows. 17mb file - nothing too exciting.
