The wild, shirtless lyrics of Zach de la Rocha, bong-rattling bass of Tim Commerford, and competent drum work of Brad Wilk...

I just found my Battle of Los Angles CD, man, they had it all.:D

Nice Simpson's adaptation ! :D

as for RATM - I loved them. saw them live multiple times and they were incredible performers ! I also love the fact that someone was making politically charged rock music again. In the end though they produced 3 albums in 7 ( ? ) years that sounded almost EXACTLY alike. While I wouldn't mind if there were still together they were for the most part stuck in neutral with their sound.

I agree that a bunch of the songs/albums sound the same, however I think that whatshisname the guitarist learnt (yeah, lernt) to do some crazy wacky far-out shit with six strings and a piece of wood. My good friend who tears shit up on guitar and is a disciple of Jimi and SRV says the guitarist from RATM/Audioslave is the next in the school of Hendrix. Not sure if I completely believe that BUT he did change what people thought was possible as far as the sounds that a git-fiddle can make.

Their political stance and willingness to voice those stances and bring issues to light is to be admired though.

Yea, Tom Morello is a guitar GOD, no doubt. I think what really pulled them together was the bass/drums. Those guys were just incredible combo. They all were such a great mix, it just plain worked. I think that is why their 3 CDs all sound so similar and yet so awesome. Their first CD was so far ahead of it's time. They were a pioneer in the now tired rap/funk/metal/blah blah blah.

My sister had tickets to the "Rhyme and Reason Tour" and it was cancelled just prior her going. :( The B-Boys and Rage, could have been any better? That would be like the Dead touring with the Phish.

I can not remember when I put Evil Empire in my gym CDs, it's been there so long.:D

Oh yea, not a huge Audioslave fan. Sounds like Blackhole Sun over and over. B-Real would have been a better choice...

Morrello used a bit more than strings and wood. He used a lot of self-designed computer systems and guitar modifications to create that sound which was so unique. He's definitely the shiz.

hmmm....well Rev, I did not know that...then again I know precisely jack shit about making music...anyways, seems to me he experimented with alot of far-out sounds and whatnot. it's what we in the biz call "neato burrito"

Bulls on Parade and Without a Face, two of my favorite, let's get fucking rowdy songs.
As mentioned the guitar work and drums, are very "neato burrito"

my roommate and I both thought of that the other night, as both of us had tix too, and then we both cursed Mike D for falling off his damn BMX bike.

Selected Lyrics:

Mainline adrenaline, from Gaza to Tenamen...

Fuck the g-ride/I want the machines that are making them!

Rally around your family with a pocket full of shells

Went through five centuries of penatentries so let the guilty hang....in the year of the boomerang!

The circulum is a cell block

Was it cast for the mass who burn and toil?
Or for the vultures who thirst for blood and oil?
Yes a spectacle monopolized
They hold the reins, stole your eyes
All the fistagons the bullets and bombs
Who stuff the banks
Who staff the party ranks
More for Gore or the son of a drug lord
None of the above fuck it cut the cord
