I don't understand why anyone would live in Missoula. Plus, we all ride snowbikes out here. Skiing is lame.

Heh. Seconded.
I'm sure he loves Missoula... so I'll refrain from negative comments about his hometown. Let's just say that when the skis come off, we might have different needs.
Also, there are 3 major airports within 45 minutes. No one's limited to skiing here.

woodsy needs to attend a special three day clinic at grandpa cletus' school of ski travel and debauchery. Probably just needs to audit the debauchery part of the cirriculum.

It may be weak but we've got fall folliage to die for! If you like that sort of crap.

Isn't the only reason to go skiing is so that you can go drinking afterwards?

Skiing? what's that?
I went on a nice MTB ride before work today. Perfect fall conditions....which seems very odd since it's December 28th.

I don't understand how someone makes a living in Montana. Do you hunt for your meat and gather nuts and berries in the summer?

I know that I am 1/2 an hour from the ocean, 1-1/2 to 3 1/2 hrs from skiing or hiking the white or green mountains and 15 minutes from the rents house on a lake. I sure love skiing, but not just on the snow.

[Anti jinx]Bastardi says in a worst-case scenario, the country will experience a repeat of the winter of 1977-78. After a tepid start, that winter was remarkable for its cold and storms, including three powerful blizzards in the Northeast. "Those who think that winter 2006-2007 is going to remain mild are in for a shock. Winter is likely to come with a vengeance. A week from now, we'll start seeing truly cold air across much of the country, and we expect this change to last."
Bastardi believes that if the change in the weather pattern reaches its full potential, the onset of cold weather could result in "one of the top-five coldest 30-day stretches in the past half century." [/end anti jinx]

heh. Bastardi.
Joe Bastardi is a weather forecaster (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weather_forecaster) working for State College, PA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_College%2C_PA) based Accuweather (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accuweather). He has become well-known for his often surprisingly accurate long-range forecasts along with his potential for over-hyping weather forecasts, a tendency that goes back to his days as a student meteorologist.
