Hey
I'm new and I decided to drop by and ask the grand intellectuals of Teton Gravity Forums for some divine information about skiing in Vermont. I live in NY, 90 miles north of NYC, and I ski primarily at Hunter. I'd like to go somewhere in Vermont for Thanksgiving, but I'm not certain if it'll be worth it considering the pitiful weather. I was specifically considering Killington, but am open to other mountains. I know they want to be and are assuring people they will be open for Thanksgiving weekend. My question is whether or not mountains like Vermont will be worth my spending about $175 to ski for three days (I'm a college student and I do not have a lot of money). Will Killington likely have many trails open this weekend? Appreciate it.

hunter this morning, jong:

it will be good for lots of HBK laps, plus belt - and maybe they'll have huega, cliff, or ike open by then - but nothing in vermont will have much more. KMart, which has the ability to make more snow than any other place in the state, will be a mess with 10,000 people on Bunny Buster.. So if you have a pass at hunter, you're definitely better off saving your money.

SUNY New Paltz?

i'll be skiing killington or stowe. if I was in your situation I probably wouldn't bother spending the money though. a few top to bottom trails with tons of people and man made snow.

Its looking like i'm gonna skip opening weekend as well, just don't feel like paying $$$ to ski with 10,000 of my closest friends at K-mart.
