View Full Version : Canon 30D versus the XTi?

Anyone have experience with these cameras that can give me some feedback on which way to go? All my lenses are Canon, so I don't need camera suggestions. I am just trying to choose whether price and weight (XTi) trump a more durable body and a few extra features.

I envision using this camera for things like easy ski trips (Vallee Blanche,) or basecamp use (Ruth Glacier) or short hut trips or shooting from the roadside, so a few ounces isn't critical. I have a small digital camera for climbing and doing long tours.

Thoughts?

What do you want to take pictures of?

5fps vs. 3fps is alot more than "a few extra features" when shooting action.

Good point. I wasn't looking for the FPS required to shoot a heavyweight fight but I would like to shoot ice climbing and obviously skiing.

30D I'm blitzed right now!

I checked both of them out at the camera store and will order the 30D. The fragility of the Rebel series has always been off-putting to me ('cause I like to wreck shit) and the features of the 30D are worth the extra $$$.

Search, jong. I can think of 2 or 3 other threads about this.
