View Full Version : Anyone out there looking for a job?

My company (Boeing) has a program that gives employees a bonus of $4,000 if they refer someone who then takes a job in what they have deemed "a critical or hard-to-recruit" skill.
I looked at the listings and most of the positions are in engineering, computer programming, etc. I'd say at least half of the jobs are in California including Anaheim, Seal Beach and El Segundo. There are positions around the country, though. I even saw one listed as Denver/Aurora.
Anyway, if anyone out there is looking for a job, PM me and I'll tell you what info you need to give me. Basically, I enter this info into a form and it checks if your profile is already in the system. If it isn't then you will be sent an email with instructions on how to enter your resume and contact info. If you're eventually hired into a critical skill I'll get $4000!
Sounds like a win-win situation to me ;)
I better read the fine print and make sure there are no repercussions to me if the person I recommend sucks! You know, the kind of person who reads skiing forums all day at work :)

I didn't see "sniffing glue" in the list of critical skills!

any vital biz skills? I couldn't engineer myself out of a paper bag, but I make the numbers add up pretty. Plus I can give out motivational awards like a mofo.

The job locations lead me to believe most of these jobs are on the defense side, so probably missiles and other things designed to kill people. Probably not a lot of business openings, in other words...
That said, I think everyone's resumes probably go into a central system. So in all probability, if they do hire someone I refer it may not be in a critical skill area and I won't get jack. But if I can find someone a job that's cool. The bonus would be nice, but I'll live without it!

I'd be willing to split the $4K unless they give you a signing bonus. If it's so critical they better be willing to ante up, right?
My guess is if Boeing is involved in bio-weapons they leave the bio part to somebody else and only work the delivery system end of it.

I am in fact looking for a new job, and I would be an easy hire at Boeing, since I already work in the defense industry. However, I get the impression that working for Boeing is essentially asking to be laid off. I also had the impression that it's even slower moving than the company I work for (the reason I'm looking for a new job is that my current job is really boring). Any thoughts on this?

If Boeing is looking for an athletic trainer to provide rehab for all of those repetitive stress injuries I'm your guy, especially if it is the C.O. office.
Or for that matter a PT position in UT or CO.

I think a forum main section of job listings would be a really great addition to the TGR boards.
Cool, I always wanted to be a rocket scientist.
I have lots of experience shovelling snow. will that help get me hired?

If Boeing needs Dentists, then this is the place to ask...

If Boeing need a guy who will wear the tyres out on their latest products, misappropriate their wares for personal sking trips, and then knock out a few hundred words of copy in between cruising TGR, slugging penguins and sniping gear on ebay, I'm your man.
Easiest four grand you ever earned, huh?

Yes! It sounds like you're qualified as a test pilot.

If it's a defence job, you may have something, roo - you seem to be pretty good at blowing shit up, as well.

At the very least...a sticky post called "Networking" or "Job Leads." Could be ski related or not.
I have to sit tight where I am until 2007 (when I'm vested) but then I want to change jobs in order to better prep for a situation where I can work in the ski industry & live closer to what I love (the mountains). Preferably in marketing/web/PR/management.
I'm thinking about doing some intern type work (free or in exchange for passes) for a NE ski area. Like re-do their website or write/maintain content. You guys think that's a good idea? Anyone here ever done that? I mean will they think it's crazy "will work for ski pass?"
Also, is it really necessary to have resort work experience to land one of the better jobs? Right now I work for a semi-big city doing web development. And I have a Masters in Public Administration. Advice & input appreciated, seriously. Glad you brought up this whole employment topid AD. It's been weighing heavily on my mind as I try to map my future somewhat!

Also...
a "networking" thread might be a good place to post call for consultants and such.
I do Spanish translation on the side for example. Just finished a few TV ads for a major company. So if you ever need a translator, PM me!
Also if you know someone who's looking you can post in there. So it wouldn't just be job listings but could be consulting opps, people who are looking for jobs posting skills, posting for job/job search advice. But with a maggotty twist!
