Watch the trailer.
How many self important industry bigwigs can you pick out from the soulful hand made frame builders of today?:D

Funny how one of them sees the freedom of the 70s being no speed limits and open trails. Marin sucks.

Thanks. I got to see this.

Was reminiscing with Gary Fisher not long ago about the "old days" (well, not the really old days but pretty old). Trails were local knowledge and the best were closely guarded secrets. Now every good trail is published in at least 20 books and maps. You use to ride all day and not see anyone. Now you go to the same trail and there's 25 cars at the trailhead. Oy! Don't get me started....

That's why you live somewhere away from cities and build illegal trails with no trailhead and no discernible endpoint.:D

The flick looks interesting. Now is one of those times I wished I lived near a city that would show the thing.

Marin is a sad sad story though.

This is how all the good trails are on the North Shore. Best trails are kept secret and not mapped. Heck even mapped trails are kept secret, signs removed or turned around or put intentially in spots that people won't look.

I am glad to have hooked up with LeeLau to get shown the goods from Shore oldtimer.

Reminds me of the most famous illegal singletrack ever, the New Paradigm trail. 2.5 miles of s.t. sweetness cut right in the heart of the Marin watershed. Eventually it was discovered. Even the rangers admitted it was well designed and built. Then they obliterated it.

This is essentially second hand spam (that sounds nasty).

I saw this film at Sundance a couple of years ago, and found it incredibly entertaining. Definitely a side of the scene I didn't really know about. IHere's their plea - help these guys out and spread the word:

Hey Everybody,
I just wanted to thank all of you for your support on KLUNKERZ. I can't believe it's been almost a year since the launch with VAS Entertainment at InterBike. In that time the reviews have been amazing (see below), but the sales...not so much. If I may, I would like to ask a favor of all you KLUNKERZ supporters. It would REALLY help me out if you could post some (positive) customer reviews .....

Ride on,
Billy

Anyone who gives a damn about the trails he/she rides, he/she keeps them a secret and doesn't share them with just any Gomer on a bike. Time and again I've watched increased access and increased trail ridership cause destruction and dumbing down of trails. Time and again. I've never seen it help a trail. Ever.

Keep your goods secret, else they become BADs.

And yeah -- Lee's a good dude, one of the best.

Unless you're talking about Ohio. Then you let everyone know where the trails are so they'll get ridden enough to not be overgrown in 2 months. And even then it's just the same 5-6 dudes out there riding the trail.

We've had some newbs out to the mini-dh trails we built, and that scares me - quite a few injuries out there this year. Most Ohio bikers don't quite 'get' how to ride a bike down hills with jumps on them.

p.s. thanks for the linky!
