View Full Version : Differences in K2 Tele and Alpine Construction?

Sorry to start another thread on the subject, but it appears unavoidable now that I've narrowed and/or shifted the question.

Here's what I know:

1. The Instinx is the women's version of the World Piste.

2. The World Piste is the tele version of the Recon.

3. The Lotta Luv is the women's version of the Recon.

Does it, therefore, necessarily follow that the Instinx is the tele version of the Lotta Luv?

And, perhaps more to the point, are there any salient differences between K2's alpine line and their tele counterparts, other than the mounting rivets and the hole in the tip?

I was looking at a pair of race room K2 gs skis today.
Metal, metal, I tell ya.

I was told by our sales rep that the tele's have slightly less metal, like one layer of titamium, then the alpines. This makes sense but I'm not sure if its the hardcore facts or not.

That makes sense to me too, but of course, that's also the difference with the women's model. Does it go from two layers of titanal in the Recon to none in the Instinx? Seems unlikely, right?

I've got to think the engineering differences lie somewhat deeper than the topsheet. But basically, I'm clueless.
