In Moscow, ID for graduate school and coming up short on decent backcountry skiing w/o driving all the way to Canada. Anybody have experience in this region. Maybe the north end of the Blue Mtns in WA?

The Blues are cool. I'd also recommend the Selkirks up north. Check the topos for terrain above Trestle Creek, Hope and Clark Fork on the upper end of of the lake. Look hard at Scotchman's Peak. If that doesn't sate you check out the mountains off the east side of Bull River Hiway between Noxon and Libby.

yeah, find out about some of the places in the south Cabinet mountains. Places that get sex amounts of snow are:
St. Paul Peak
Snowshoe Peak/Mine
A Peak
you can access all those from highway 200 near Noxon. best to find out what's going on in those places before you get out there. they're all around 7,000-9,000 ft elevation. never any traffic there either.

St Paul Peak- that's the one I was thinking of...
Planted trees up near there one summer - awesome country.
