Yeah, not bad for hand-holding a 400mm f/2.8, hey?

unbelivable!

I used a 200mm that I know now will pale :nonono2: in comparison.

I cant wait to get the film back. I am so 20th century. :(

fuck mang, i guess you do like that new glass! I'm impressed! As for shooting fast movers.....I was trying to shoot some bikes at close range panning at MMP last week. Holy hell it's tough to track at those speeds and acceleration compared to doing it with autocrossing cars!

How many pics did you have to take to get these money shots?

Ummmm...about 300 pics total from the airshow. Plenty of keepers.

Course, doesn't really matter, you know, shooting digital. The "Del" works great! :)

Okay, I absolutely love that you post some of your stuff here, but I hope that you also show off your skills on photo sites. I have seen a bunch of airshow photos on Flickr recently - particularly those "heritage formations" with two or more planes of different eras. Granted, Flickr is known more for artsy fartsy stuff, but your air show photos blow away the ones I have seen there... just hoping more than just the maggots are getting to see this stuff.

Dopeness!! I love the Edge 540 and the Oracle Pitts. Sounds like Sean Tucker is back in the seat after bailing out of his other one. Very nice shots.

Yeah, Tucker always puts on a great show.

Especially when flying just a few feet off of the ground:

But the F22/p51 is sickly sick
You need to put that one to good use.

Very legit. Nice work with that big heavy lens. Handholding that thing is as good as any bicep workout. You must be so freakin' ripped.

I love the vortices coming of the leading edges on this one. So cool that they have enough thrust to stall the wings and still stay airborne.

Amazing pictures. Crystal clear

PNWbrit
06-16-2006, 04:27 PM
Do the vortices indicate that?

I always thought it was the water vapor in the atmosphere condensing in the low pressure area above the wing.... or something?

I too love the p51/raptor pic. I absolulty love all the old WWII warbirds. They're like sports cars that ooze soul.

Great shots as always. You are a master of many subjects. Keep up the fantastic shots.

You sure you don't want to hire yourself out to the maggots next winter? I'm sure they would set you up with a years worth of your favorite beverage. :D

I have never seen in flight pictures with that much clarity, Impressive. I would bet the USAF does not have shots of that quality that are not classified.

Publish a shot with that much detail of a B-2 or EC-XXX and you’re going to get a knock on the door.

I remember when you couldn't get anywhere near an F-117, let alone take a pic of the thing.

Now they just park em right in front of the crowd....

...course, I remember when you would never see a fighter pilot that looks as good as this one either:

Thirded.

Astro ~ I've taken more airshow pics than I care to remember - not a single ONE of them look half as good as *all* of the pics you just posted. Very, VERY well done.

btw - That Raptor/51 shot is stunning. That deserves to be poster-size and for sale somewhere.

Nice work, mang.
