I've run Class III with mergansers before, and hit a dead moose lodged under a strainer, but that's amazing.

back in my guiding days there was a duck that would run the big drops, he always hung out down therem then one summer he was gone.

That's a heinous drop, and the site of a fatality of a local boater who swam there a couple years back. What you don't see in the deer photo is the river right rock at the base of that drop (hence the name 'Big Splat') where all of the water is pushing you towards.
