Does anyone have experience with renting a condo for an entire season in Mammoth? Where would you find listing for this? Want to get between 6-8 people in on this. I've heard it can work out to about $200 per person per month for rent. Any truth to this?

one place to try in mammoth is Krystal Villas East, they will usually do season long things. Another option is a house, usually works out well if you can get one without a year long lease. $200-$300 is pretty typical if you get a bunch of people in there.

www.mammothtimes.com if your paying $200 a month in Mammoth its NOT going to be comfortable at all IF you shot for 300-400 it might work out alot better for you.

Debatable, but I HAVE lived in mammoth for four years ( i dont qualify as having experience renting here?) and its really SHITTY trying to find a decent place to live here. Two hundred dollars a month is less than employee housing which will leave you with any aussie accent and airborn STD's. As far as me "loving to ski" cj001f, I must not since I moved 3500 miles with a hundred fucking dollars in my pocket and nowhere to live, becuase you know "skiings okay", prick. Like I said mammoth times is the best place if your not in town already, and NOW is the best time to find a spot.

winter housing is tough. you're right to start asking and looking now. a few tips i've learned since moving to mammoth:
- it behooves you to have a local phone number. many landlords (LL) will not call you back if you don't have a local number. many times its a real estate mgt company... use a buddy, if that is available.
- sound adult and responsible. LLs are worried about dirtbags trashing/disrespecting their place.
- 6-8 people in one condo/apt/even a house is way too many people. by the end of the winter, at least one will have been violated in some way, shape or form. hence, tread lightly when asked about the # of inhabitants.
- start looking now. visiting is ideal, if possible. go to the local places, since many folks put their ads up there. and do what you can to befriend locals who may be in the know of a place.
- having a local job and reference will go a long way.
- mammoth times. problem is that everyone looks there.
don't know what else to tell ya. rent is expensive. don't kid yourself. the population practically triples in the winter. 3 roomies paying 200 bones will be like living in a storage unit that's 12x12.
persistence, my friend. good luck.
edit: if this is for a weekend warrier/time share style, since most house owners are from LA, try the LA papers.

I am interested in some type of ski lease situation. Living in OC and want to go to mammoth at least 2 weekends a month. These are common in Tahoe, not sure about mammoth.

don't really fraternize with the LA folks... so don't know how they're dealing with their lodging. i'm sure someone here can pipe-up. you're a couple months behind, good luck. precip has made its way through the sierras...
good luck.
