What does this have to do with Summits?
Are you trying to organize a sand dune party? That actually might be pretty cool.

My fire crew used to go up there and run around for PT.
It's fun to write giant profanities in the sand that tourists will see from the parking lot.

That's the whole trouble. You can't ever find a place that's nice and peaceful, because there isn't any. You may think there is, but once you get there, when you're not looking, somebody'll sneak up and write "Fuck you" right under your nose. I think, even, if I ever die, and they stick me in a cemetery, and I have a tombstone and all, it'll say "woodsy" on it, and then what year I was born and what year I died, and then right under that it'll say "Fuck you." I'm positive.

If you have a four wheel drive, the trip over medano pass from the Westcliffe side over to the sand dunes is alot of fun.

YES!!!
did this with my brother and his buddies last year, mega-fun. bring your rock skis. we took up all of our fucked up boards last year (late august maybe?) when it was raining for a week and had a killer fucking time skiing wet sand. If this happens, sign me up to bring a keg.

Don't know if I'd really want to go to the Sand Dunes in the summer. It can get dreadfully hot! Spring and fall are best, but you'll most likely also get wind then.... Just the way of it... heat or wind......

I went there late May last year, it was a good time, take an old snowboard or skis. This could be a good maggot partay spot.

<--- This is me commiting to bring enough beer to get everyone drunk for 2 days. I'll throw down for food too.
so..................Lets start throwing dates around.
I can do this any time except for the last weekend in june (i think, not sure on that yet) so why dont the job-having interested parties throw up some dates and let's put this together.

g4n...totally down, although i might need to organize a ride from boulder/front range. (captain waterski decided to be a bitch and sell his car for summer...wtf?;) ) Anyways, I get back to CO the 23rs. I'm currently umemployed, and I need to find a job, but if I work at REI (plan A) I'm sure I can find a weekend to take off and do a little "product research" at the dunes.
How's mid-june sound for people? Or around then.

Buy a "backcountry permit" for ~$10 at the visitor center.
Then drive all the way through the park, and find campsites in the national forest area just adjacent to the park. Camp in the trees there, make some mushroom tea, and HIKE THE DUNES AT NIGHT.
Seeing the moon come up over Crestone on top of the dunes *faced* was possibly the coolest thing I've ever witnessed!

Looks like I’m out till mid-July (gonna be totin’ the new bambino all over the f’ing country till then)……..If it goes down after that I’m in. I got a couple of those awnings that’ll work for shade and a 12 volt blender for the Margs to help combat the heat:p

Shit sounds like a good time. It is definately going to be hot as balls there anytime in July though. Sounds like a blender is going to be mandatory. I have heard those backcountry camp sites are pretty sweet.

yeah,
It will totally be hot as balls. That's why the night-hike is a must.
Enjoy.

Swore I would never hang out with the fun-guy again after my last adventure but that sounds like it might be worth it.

Canada? Good lord I hope not. But my years at CU caught up with me one day. We ate some that were made into chocolates. Well the amount they told us was in each chocolate was underestimated, by quite a lot. Everyone who ate them that night swore off boomers for at least a year. Lots of people say they make them feel crazy but I never got that in all my years of eating them until that night. Once bitten twice shy I guess.

My bad, I was little confused at first if you were using some new slang for shrooms or something. What can I say, I'm still a jong  . I am not familiar with that hip-hop group. The name is also a reference to an old Simpsons episode where Homer uses it(I have an unhealthy addiction to the show:biggrin: ) No worries though. Hope all you Front Range and Boulder mags have fun at A-Basin this weekend. I love Aspen but I still miss the Sink and the Foundary and La Iguanas, etc etc, especially this time of year. Cheers.

Salinger was quite cynical. I'm surprised that I am the first one to call out this quote, catcher in the rye is a fuckin' classic if you haven't read it you go out and buy it right now
