I have some friends heading into the Pear Lake Ski Hut out of Lodgepole next week. They are talking to the ranger and keeping an eye on the weather but I thought it was worth a shot to see if anyone here has been out the that area this season who might have some info on the snowpack. My rudimentary TGR seach skills find nothing more recent than about this time last year. Its far enough South that I'm not sure how that part of the Sierras has been impacted by the lineup of storms Tahoe/Mammoth have seen recently. Any first hand info or thoughts on other places to check conditions would be much appreciated. Thanks

check over at telemarktips, in the massive tahoe conditions thread. I think Bobskiing just posted some pics from this past weekend there.

Lodgepole? do you just head striaght up the drainage? Common route is Wolverton.

18" weekend before last at Wolverton. Saturday was fluffy, sunday wasn't.

Thanks, good call on ttips, bobskiing had been up; looking at the pics posted it appeared to be a pretty fine wknd.

Looks like a close eye on temps and wind are going to be needed prior to my buddies planned ski-in on the 28th. Long range looks like its going to be warming up a bit.

depends on actual conditions when you end up going (of course) but I liked Bob's decision/suggestion to take the low road to the hut, rather than the steepish traverse. The few times I have been on that slope, it was borderline for my comfort level with slide potential, and that was without a bunch of recent snow.
