Why would you want to do such a thing?

As both a longtime kayaker and surfer, I can not understand what is so attractive about kayaking in the surf. I did it twice and it was like going mountain biking in Moab and forgetting to take your training wheels off.

I sympathise with you in the fact that Portugal is probably pretty dry throughout most of the year but there has to be some good creeks over there somewhere. You've got lots of limestone right? Go explore.
