This auction is for a complete Ventana El Saltamontes Full Suspension Bike:

This is Ventana’s cross country, full suspension frame; however, it is also a fully capable trail/epic bike.
Five inches super-stiff Fox front suspension (adjustable to 3 or 4” as well) and 4”-5.3” rear suspension makes this one of the most versatile bikes available (with a longer length shock you can get 6” from the rear). I built this bike with top of the line components last summer investing a lot of time and money choosing strong but light components that would result in further balancing an already razor sharp frame. New, the total frame and component spec would be worth around $5,000.

If you don’t know Ventana bikes, check out the links below. They are an amazing company – very small and very personal. Attention to detail in both frame welds/construction and customer service is amazing. You can easily call Sherwood Gibson (owner of Ventana) personally to ask questions about set-up, component selection, or upgrade options at any time. I chose the Ventana last summer over the likes of other top end bike manufacturers (Ellsworth, Turner, Intense) because of these very perks, which, in fact, are secondary to the actual ride-quality of the frame.

Also, though the bike rides is in perfect mechanical shape, I want to run through a few of the things that are in less-than “10-of-10” condition – so that everything is set on the table: The rear derailleur cable & housing is in need of replacing (I’ll include a new Teflon-coated cable with the sale). There is a ding the size of a pin head on one of the fork stanchions that, in over a year of riding, has shown no sign of leakage. The rear derailleur has been cosmetically scraped through use but functions well. Frame has the usual cable rub and, as I have tried to show in one of the attached photos, there is a small ding/indent in the left side chainstay that affects the bike only by its creating a little rough spot. These imperfections are typical of bikes that have trail use, if you have any concerns about any of the above, please contact me.

This was my dream bike. Or I should say it is one of them. Unfortunately, I only have the finances for one bike and, as my roommate is now a Downhiller, I’m building a different bike. I seriously contemplated getting a new credit card and keeping the Ventana because I love it so much, but I don’t want to owe that much money – having debt hanging over one’s head seems a poor way to get by. That said, this is a chance for someone to obtain a top of the line bike for well over a thousand dollars below the build price.

First bid is at $1950 (the absolute lowest for I’m willing to part with the bike) or you can buy it now for $2,250 and I’ll ship it anywhere in the continental US for free (usually around $75-$100 for the complete bike).

If you have any questions – I know spending a bunch of money on a bike that you’ve never physically seen can be unnerving – please email me at: electronic_dumpster@hotmail.com
If you have especially pressing questions shoot me your phone number via e-mail and I’ll give you a call at a time that is good for you.

Thanks for looking,

~ Justin.

N.B.
- I’m reserving the right to cancel this auction if the bike sells locally.
- Though I’d prefer to sell to Continental US or Canada, I am open to international bidders IF you contact me first and agree to pay the complete shipping costs… and no, I won’t send money to you in Africa and have your “shipping service” pick up the like locally.

Good luck.
