View Full Version : SUMMIT: PUGET SOUND SCHEDULE (XTAL/STEVENS/ALPY) 3/3-3/5

For those planning on skiing the Puget Sound en route to Whistler:
Coordinate with the Puget Sound ride sharing thread. I'll try and update the rosters below confirming rides/attendance. Please also notate if you do or do not have backcountry gear so we can plan accordingly. The majority of terrain @ Stevens & Alpental will likely be backcountry (however we can also do some modified inbounds touring as not everyone may have BC gear- fun either way!)
Here's the pre-Whistler Puget Sound Line Up:

For the Friday, 3/3 fester at Crystal, plan on meeting in the Chinook Express lineup early, approximately 8:00.
I'll be sporting a tall grey toque, yellow softshell, black pants, black and yellow flexons, fritsches on old silver Asteroids. Note the weedy goatee.

s99 - Put me down for:
Thursday 3/2 and Friday 3/3 at Crystal (there seem to be several other maggots lining up a trip to Crystal on Thursday 3/2, see here http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47736 )
Hope also to make Sat Stevens and Sun Alpental if can work out transport and lodgings.
Since I am trying to fit in as much WA experience into this my first visit, should one try to fit Baker in as well en route to W/B, perhaps on Monday?
Edit - Have BC gear (tranceiver/shovel/probe) but no skins/freerides - would consider hire if something special is on the menu.

That looks excellent, I am delighted to have been signed up for these days.
I will have BC gear if it will be needed. Mullets are free for all maggots wishing to be mulletized. :)

If anyone has AT gear and no money for a pass (like myself), I will be doing backcountry somewhere on Sunday (3/5). I'll leave from Seattle and will go wherever conditions are best. PM if interested.

Count me in for Alpy on Sunday. I have to be at my grandma's b-day in Steilacoom Saturday night, so I don't think that I can swing Stevens on Saturday (though I am lusting...for stevens and Z-Bo of course).

Perhaps make it to Alpental on Sunday but most likely be at Crystal all weekend - don't think I can make Friday work :cussing:

I'm in for Sat and Sun.
I'll show for Friday if it dumps.
Most of you obviously don't me yet, as I'm new to the forums. 2 second intro: grew up in CO, just moved out to WA this winter. I'm looking for people to tear it up with, esp. in the backcountry. My work is pretty chill, so I can usually get out midweek when it goes off.
Looking forward to rippin with ya.

Pencil me in for Stevens Saturday. I'm going to try to make it that day. I'll be staying inbounds.
I might be there on fri. Depends on amount of work and whether or not I get my skis in time.
As far as the weekend goes, depends how much $ I have left for gas/tix.

Throw my name down for Saturday and Sunday.
I'll be rocking the trekkers.
Touring in trekkers will be my training for bike season :)

Forgot to mention 2 things:
I can drive from Seattle on Sat and Sun. Have a suby that can fit 4 more. Lemme know if you want a ride.
I can hook up Alpental tickets for $38 (10 off window prices). But I have to get them in advance (by Fri). If you want one, lemme know.
Plans didn't work out so it looks like I won't be able to make it. No skis = no fun. :frown:

I'd like to jump in with the Saturday Steven's group. Is there a meeting time and place yet?
I live on the east side of Seattle and could collect up to three riders if need be.

We'll figure something out :)

I'd like to see you all guys (and see some of you again) but the only way for me would be to have Alpental be 3/4 and Stevens 3/5. Is that remotely possible?

What exactly is the plan at Alpy - is most of the planned tourage going to be lift accesible? I got a tranciever, probe and shovel but I am completely fixed heel at this point.

I am contemplating heading down for sunday at alpental, kind of want to do some skinning on the new freerides. would probably just drive saturday night from van and do the car bivy.
although it looks like a good weekend at whistler too, damn tough choices

Provided weather cooperates, no skins required. We'd be just hitting up some lift-accessible BC (IF the gates open - fingers crossed). Everything is via traverse or short hikes.
Not sure what's on the weather plan for Sunday- we'll have to keep a close eye on it.

I've yet to hear a meeting time for Stevens tomorrow. How about:
8:30 AM in underneath the clock tower at the base. (It's just below the upper, older grey cinderblock lodge).

I didn't know WOODSY was coming! Maybe I should pull my ass off the couch, against doctor's orders.

I must have missed the meet-up outside denny lodge today. Tho I swear I was there at ten after eight and there was no maggots to be seen
One of these days I'm going to have to get a proper Alpy tour. Hopefully everone had a great time and hit up some good bc. I was gaping it inbounds and looking for a rowdy group on fatties but never saw one.

Actually, the bulk of us showed up late - closer to 8:30 or 9:00. There were about 15 of us, and most did OB laps on the high traverse skier's left of the top of International. A few of us stayed mostly inbounds in just pairs or a group of three or so.
Sorry we missed ya!

yeah they were loading the chair by 8:40...Aply's cool that way!
What time did they open the BC gates? I was back back with the pups and didn't see any skiers until after 10:15.

sorry we missed ya up there. perhaps another time? we got caught up in ride logistics combined with a 15 minute late start in the morning so we didn't make it to the trail sign until 8:40.
hope you had a good day. Nash seemed to have some pretty decent snow, considering the conditions. And adrenaline face wasn't too shabby. But some of those guys that hit snake dance (ahemmmmmm, mr. clark....) probably found some delicious ice chunky monkey
