through Saturday at continued low freezing levels.
Post frontal orographic showers should continue Saturday night
along the west slope areas.
Another strong frontal system is expected to move through the
area Sunday midday bringing another round of moderate to heavy
snow or rain with rising freezing levels.
EXTENDED FORECAST FOR FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY
Light to moderate snow showers Friday, decreasing late Friday and
Friday night.

FRIDAY NIGHT-
Strong winds and increasing moderate snow should reach the
Olympics, southern Cascades and Mt Hood area overnight and spread
into the remainder of the Cascades early Saturday. Along with
slight warming, this should produce a significant increase in the
danger as increasingly dense wind slabs develop over previous
shallower wind slabs and several buried weak layers. Increasingly
sensitive slabs should become likely early Saturday with further
slab development probable during the day. As a result of this
expected weather, an increasingly unstable snow structure and the
possibility of sympathetic slide releases from relatively low
angled terrain, back country travel is not recommended on
Saturday

I'm wondering if that wind is going to make for a particularly nasty day at xtal. Maybe Stevens would be a better bet? The only problem with that is they are expected to get less snow. But lots of snow at xtal and no upper mtn = bummer

That's what I was thinking.
18 inches plus by sunday morning.
Very gusty west winds=
possibly closed upper mt on saturday, double or triple the snowfall totals on the upper 1000 vertical feet due to those heavy winds blowing from the west. Up to 60 mph on fri night and saturday. (that means snow will be blowing in from behind the ski area.) Crystal faces east mostly.
Sunday will be a tranquil day in comparison.
It's time to get southback open again.
I'll be there.
