Having moved out here from the East coast... I gotta take an Avi class. Which one would experienced folks recommend, the Northwest Avalanche Institute held at Crystal, or the American Alpine Institute held at Baker?
Thanks for the advice.

I agree... but it doesn't address the original question. Anyone have any preference or opinions as to why one would be better to attend than the other?

I recommend the avy course put on by Mt. Baker. Jeff Hamilton who runs them is super knowledgable, and it's a lot of hands-on. Granted, you aren't "certified", but then the mountains don't really care if you are or aren't. Never been impressed by the AAI... a bunch of yuppies driving BMW sedans.

Nugget.... here I thought you were omniscient.... but you knew that already, didn't you.

Toby... Glad you like it, though I'm hope this doesn't ruin your enjoyment of it, it's referring to Powder11. Joke between JoshBu, Nugget, RustyNail and myself from the Thanksgiving Whistler trip.

No worries. I'll still pretend it's about me, though
